We are not rich people, and this is more expensive than places we would normally stay, but it was a special family occasion (my mother-in-law won her battle with cancer), so we decided to celebrate. It was worth every penny. The place is magical -- sunrises above the clouds, breathtaking views of the ocean, windows everywhere, gourmet kitchen, open concept, beautiful bathroom, fireplace, kind host, open property, short secret walk. I would describe the house as rustic chic, not a manicured villa. There were 5 of us, including 2 young girls, but we managed with the 2 bedrooms, using the provided air mattress and the sofa/futon and lots of pillows and bedding provided. The initial air mattress had a leak, but within hours, the host ensured that a new one was delivered. We will remember our 5 nights there forever. It was a 10min windy drive up the hill, but we got used to it. Good food options and a Safeway at the bottom. Nice beaches nearby. Right across from Point Lobos Marine Sanctuary at the bottom of the drive. Short drive to the start of Big Sur. The light on the vegetation up there was spectacular. We did not want to leave and will be recommending this place to everyone we know. We have been fortunate to travel and stay at beautiful places (Bali, Nepal, Arctic, etc), yet my wife said that this was the most spectacular place she had ever stayed.
