Experience spinner dolphins, sea turtles, hump-back whales (in winter), manta rays, amazing fish and coral reefs at pristine Kealakekua Bay, a protected marine sanctuary.
Enjoy glorious sunsets through the palm fronds from the lanai or walk a few steps to the bay for your photos.
At Manini beach find excellent snorkeling and small sandy pools for little children. We have a one-man kayak and a one-man SUP/kayak combo for our guest’s use and a good variety of snorkel gear in many sizes. The shady park with picnic tables will keep everyone happy for hours! Come back to the house and consider using the outdoor shower to rinse off sand and sea water, pick some fruit from the trees, then relax on the private, covered second story lanai.
This spacious and airy home sleeps seven comfortably with large screened windows, high ceilings and overhead fans in every room. The decor is laid back Hawaiian from days gone by. Walls are decorated with local artwork as well as art collected in the South Pacific in the 1960s and more recently the Cook Islands.
There is a desk and office chair in the nook off the living room. Feel free to use the 25” wide monitor, full size keyboard, mouse and docking station.
The master bedroom has a queen-size bed, newly remodeled private bath with a walk-in shower. An adjoining sleeping porch has a twin bed.

Prepare meals in the well equipped kitchen that includes a rice cooker, cast iron skillets, blender, coffee grinder and your choice of coffee makers. Sleep with the sound of the ocean in your ears and wake to the riotous songs of birds outside your window. Feed the birds each morning and enjoy the show while you sip your coffee.
The Bay and the village of Napo'opo'o are unlike any you will find in the islands. The area is a quiet village with no condos, hotels, stores, or crowds. All shopping and dining are located 4 miles up the hill in Captain Cook or in the other local villages of Kealakekua and Kainaliu Town. Coolers are available at the front door and in the downstairs laundry area to keep your food purchases fresh - including fish from the Sunday farmers market.
The yard is a forest of palms and fruit trees - including papaya, grapefruit, soursop, tangerine, lime, lemon, orange, star fruit, banana and mango. Feel free to help yourselves to the bounty. There is also a fruit and banana bread stand down the street.
Most rentals down at the bay have an additional rental unit and ours is no exception however the second unit has a permanent tenant. Karen has lived on the property for over 20 years in a small Ohana below the house. She has proven to be a wonderful local resource to our guests and is available for issues that may arise.
The house is located in an intimate neighborhood which most guests appreciate and enjoy, and we observe quiet time after 8:00 PM out of respect for our neighbors. Parties and events are not allowed. Rentals are for a minimum of 5 nights.
FRONT DOOR IS AT TOP OF FULL FLIGHT OF STAIRS.
