Guest house in handy location
Accommodation was in a good location and within walking distance of Kloof street. Bed very comfortable and staff were friendly. The girl on from 6-8 pm was superb - a real asset to your business. Sorry I cannot remember her name.
Unfortunately there were a few issues - it is near a noisy road (made worse by the fact that the windows and doors in room 7 were in need of some maintenance as evidenced by the blinds blowing about when all was closed). The bathroom (which was very quirky) in room 7 is located below bedroom level in a basement. The stairs were of uneven depth and without a rail at one side. This means that room 7 is not suitable for elderly guests or those with mobility issues.

Fantastic but room cleaning needs to be improved
We had a fantastic big room with great view over Cape Town so nothing to complain at all! But unfortunately the work of the cleaning ladies was absolutely disappoiting. The haven't changed our used cups and glases with lipstick on for 3 days, the toilet was not clean at all and the floor was sticky. Moreover they took away our own wine glasses all the time. As well they do not change the bedding and trowels over 4 days. The breakfast was ok but every day the same. Some pancakes instead of English breakfast every time would be fantastic. But very good fresh fruit salad and joghurt. The owner was helpful and booked for us a table for dinner, as it quite tricky in Cape Town.

Noise noise noise.
Our downstairs room was VERY noisy. We were either kept awake by the people upstairs moving around or by kitchen activities taking place next door. The smell of bacon frying was particularly pungent.
If you choose this property- and it is decent value, don't get a downstairs room.

Spent 9 days and had a wonderful time. Sonia was only too happy to phone and sort restaurant bookings and organize trips.Would recommend the Intercab company (half price of Uber) for a cheap and efficient taxi service (though sometimes their drivers didn't seem to know where Montrose Avenue was), but neither did the cabs in the city centre.
Breakfast was lovely outside under the shade of a huge tree, or inside when the weather was damp. Nice quiet location where you could sit by the pool in or out of the sun and relax in relative peace.
The lodge and rooms were furnished with many lovely artifacts collected by the hosts and there was a lovely smell of leather in the lounge area.

This very comfortable home is in a wonderful section of Cape Town. It is very close and convenient to all the main attractions: sea, table mt, museums etc. the hosts are friendly and open their living area to the guests. Our room was a bit small but clean and, how long are you in it, anyway: mainly to sleep. Our only complaint was the Internet was a bit spotty.

Good quality B&B with pool and easy access to city
Rutland Lodge situated in Oranjezicht is centrally placed below table mountain, within easy reach of the city, tourist sites and main roads to other areas. There are superb views over the town and harbour from the first floor rooms. The owners and staff are friendly and welcoming, the rooms are comfortable with plenty of storage space. A bonus is the terrace outside with a table and chairs. There is also road parking, a swimming pool, terrace seating and an honesty bar. Lovely to sit outside under a big tree from breakfast. Local Will's café and deli is within 5 minutes walk away and serves good lunch and early evening food, recommended Nelson's Eye restaurant is a short drive or longer walk away.
