The couch, carpet and chair in the lounge were filthy. The place also smelled like it was standing closed for months. We kept the door open constantly for fresh air. The bathrooms can also do with extractor fans. Coffee machine missing, as well as docking station, but there was a used (dirty) espresso cup on the counter when we arrived. Some towels had holes from old age. Only 2 teaspoons in the drawer, and when you needed a normal glass, you had to get one from the bed- or bathroom. The bar is now closed, and you couldn’t even buy a bottle of water at the hotel. All the staff that we dealt with were very friendly and helpful though.
Not the room we booked, it was a massive New Years treat for us. Waited ages after check in for an alternative, expected more given that the penthouse we booked was ‘unavailable’ . Not impressed with trying to get us to sign for the alternative rooms with NO explanation.

Not great. This apartment was over priced. We had to move rooms because there were so many things wrong with it. They were quite happy to move us we looked at 2 rooms which also not in good repair. We finally moved to one which we thought was in good working order, which was not. Air conditioning didn’t work, TV you could not watch, WiFi was shocking. Overall I would not come back again.
Good location. Terrible housekeeping: cleaners hung wet towel back onto rack, when we requested for change. For any request from housekeeping, one need to call several times. The only good housekeeper is Natalie.
Good location, with good restaurants within walking distance and a nearby supermarket.
Amenities in room are never complete. Need to keep calling housekeeping to get what you need, and sometimes have to call many times to remind
No WIFI and phone connectivity and we had to physically go downstairs to reception to make numerous complaints. We were given a room that must have received a fresh coat of paint recently as there was a strong pungent smell. One of the bedside reading lamps was broken and so was the wardrobe railing. The security personnel was very unfriendly with the parking and made us park in specific lots, which changed each time we entered. It seemed to depend on the mood of the person in charge at that time. Somehow, he/she always chooses to emerge only after we have parked the car, switched off the engine and got out of the vehicle. It seemed to be timed to deliberately inconvenience us, to make us go back and move the car to the lot just next to the one we were in when there was plenty of room. There was no manager on duty that we could speak to and an email feedback to the Rooms Division went unanswered.

Hotel was good place to stay for getting to waterfront,
Excellent spot to stay. 10 minute walk from the waterfront. Staff were fantastic and just so helpful. Only negative was maybe location wasn't tge best to be walking by night. Beautiful rooms...could not fault the hotel itself. Thank you so so much for such a lovely stay x
Good points - lovely staff, clean, handy location, good sized rooms, spa, rooftop pool, great breakfast & dinner places next door.
Bad points - no bar or music at pool.
Cape Royale staff, amenities, and location were all amazingly beyond expectations. The hotel was conveniently located near supermarkets, bakeries, and within walking distance to the waterfront. The rooms were spacious and clean, and packed with all kinds of kitchen appliances (even a washer/dryer!). It was (my husband and I) our first time to South Africa, and it certainly wouldn't be our last. We will definitely stay at Cape Royale again when we visit Cape Town.
nicest hotel staff I have ever encountered. Rooms have plenty of room and made our 2 week stay wonderful. Lots of local restaurants and sights. I will return someday for sure!
