THE PROPERTY:
Why travel from around the world to stay at Splendor Oaks?
Our guests will tell you it's because somehow in the middle of the South’s suburbs a collaboration of passions has transformed an ordinary estate into a slice of heaven on earth! Nestled half way between the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains and Metro-Atlanta, the Cagle Family has taken a 35-year-old ranch and it’s 5 acres from a fixer-upper find to a DIY dreamland! A woodsy wonderland filled with one-of-a-kind dwellings and an organic mini-farm are precisely what the modern person needs to relax, reconnect and redefine their happy place! The beautiful surroundings will provide endless wonder and inspiration as the grounds cater to both an introvert’s sleepy solitude as well as communal gathering spaces for extroverts who crave new connections. While promoting eco-friendly practices and holistic healing, the environment is set up so that old-fashion traditions, such as cast-iron cooking and southern hospitality will bless the heart and heal the soul. All the spaces have been creatively designed and custom built by your hosts, Kurtis & Dayana, showcasing their ingenuity and tenacity over the last 3 years of development. Hit the unwind button and come see for yourself; the faster you get here, the sooner you can change your pace to calm and carefree!
While the initial soft launch was slated for 2020, 2019 has proved to be the year of GO! When purchasing the property in 2016, the long-term vision was to eventually become a private events facility when the kids had left the nest. For seven years Dayana was one of Atlanta’s premier wedding photographers and owning the perfect unique venue has always been a life-long goal. After many seasons of photography & travel adventures it was time to hang up the camera and pick up a hammer and a paint brush! Slowly the main house was restored and the renovation odds and ends shaped themselves into a whimsical treehouse! With Eden Treehouse catching everyone’s attention, a larger dream was born to expand housing suitable for a small bridal party! What exactly do you call a place that is a farm, a gathering space, a homestead, and a “hotel” for travelers seeking a unique stay? Splendor Oaks!
This year the vision grew simultaneously bigger yet “tiny”! After adding in the Stay Bird B&B, a converted school bus, in late 2018 a need amongst the “less is more” tiny-living movement was brought to the Cagle’s attention: those who decide to go “tiny” do not always have access to a build site, the necessary tools, or willing, able and knowledgable hands to accomplish the construction of a micro-build. So that led to the addition of the Van & School Bus Conversion Pitstop aspect of the property. Under the guidance of Kurtis’ skilled builder talent and resourcefulness, the average “Joe” and “Jill” can build their dream home! For anyone interested in downsizing, especially those considering embarking on a DIY build, this place not only offers the tiny-living experience but the added bonus of observing what it takes to build your own petite residence. Pushing the “think outside the box” envelope is specialty around here, so the new 2020 vision is to add in different “tiny-living” formats for guests to experience the full spectrum of minimalistic options. Coming soon: Tiny House B&B, Yurt B&B, Container Home B&B, Castaway B&B and more nature-inspired treehouses!
