Stayed here for one night before visiting Kent University. Close to town, a 15 min walk into the centre.
We had a family room with one double bed and two single beds, the size of the room was excellent and probably one of the best sized family rooms we’ve stayed in. The front desk check-in staff were very friendly and helpful and were able to answer all of our questions.
Whilst the room was clean, it was very tired and run down, the bedsheets had some stain marks on them, and the carpets have definitely seen better days. Being an old building there was no sound insulation every time someone in adjoining room or below us flushed the toilet or close the door we could hear it, especially in the middle of the night when people are getting up to use the toilets.
The downstairs area by the lift had a very musty and old building smell about it. Whilst it had Carpark on site, the spaces are very small and I suspect they’re probably aren’t enough spaces for everybody who stays at the hotel. We arrived at about 7 pm and had one of the last spaces, which is rather tricky to get into and out of.
Would I stay here again? Probably not in its current state, as there are plenty of other hotels in Canterbury, I would probably try one of those first. Having said that if it was to be refurbished, possibly as the room size was good for a family.
