"This was a great property located at the halfway point of the island so easy to explore either side. Close to a lovely beach and easy sea bathing with lots of shops too. The roads are steep but then they are anywhere in Madeira. Certainly a good workout if you decide to go walking on the numerous paths."

"It was all and all a great experience. We did struggle with the posted amenities, for example the dryer would cause the main breaker to throw causing us to have to babysit it. The house is huge but also mainly cold surfaces so it can be hard to heat with the provided heaters, which can also trip the electric mentioned above. The beds were pretty comfy and the kitchen was super nice to have. Couldn't use the pool because it was cloudy most if the time and so it didn't warm but that is nature's...

"We love Santa Cruz and the little village with small shops and restaurants. This house is an easy walk to the village and is right on the ocean. You can sleep with the sound of the waves. You also have access to a beautiful pool and spacious terrace. We did not want to leave. Carlos was easy to communicate with a Sandra (the housekeeper) looked after us very well. "

"We had a good week. The apartment has everything you need for a self catering stay, sunny patio. comfortable lounge, well equipped kitchen. There is a little convenience store next door and a full range of shops about 1 km up the hill. The nearest resturants seemed to be about 3 km away so not walking distance and the traffic was a little busy but then it is everywhere in Funchal. The owner was very friendly did everything he could to make us welcome even though he did not have much English."

"If you’re looking for a modern feel Villa, with a stunning view of Funchal and the coast, and a very nice pool, you just fund it! We were 4 friends who travelled to Madeira for the first time to film and photograph the island and we couldn’t have found a more perfect place to stay. The drive up there is a little tricky, as the road is very steep and with sharp turns, but very worth it. Would recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️"

"The home is high on a hill, modern and very clean. The pool is wonderful and a perfect temperature. We stayed for 1 month. Beatrice met us at the house and responded to our questions quickly. The cleaning crew came in once a week which was fantastic We were not prepared for how steep and narrow the roads were in our area, but it appears to be the norm. My husband eventually became an expert driver. Madeira is a wonderful place to visit. We are happy we chose An Island Apart. "

"The property is a 15 minute bus ride from the centre of Funchal, in the Santo Antonio area. We really liked this as it felt like being in a very normal suburban area, even if this area did bring the world Ronaldo! "We really enjoyed our stay! The house has an amazing view, is big, and very clean - everything was perfect. Marcia was also very nice, and communication was super easy via WhatsApp. She provided us with a lot of information beforehand to give us the exact location and recommend good restaurants in the area. Much appreciated and highly recommended! My advice is to not forget shampoo or anything you need, as there is no shop within walking distance"

"Amazing place to stay, great location, lovely pool and fantastic grounds. The communication with Filomena was very efficient and easy. We were lucky - Filomena was able to let us check in early, which was much appreciated. My mum hurt her leg, and Filomena was so kind to let us stay at the villa till it was time to going to the airport. Thank you so much!!!!"

"The complex had everything we needed. Spacious and clean apartment with an amazing view over Funchal and the sea, with a nice size balcony and outdoors seating. The downside was the road in-between the accommodation and the facilities. It was quiet late at night although the traffic in the morning with all the tourist vehicles coming up the hill was rather noisy. We live in a village, so noticed it. "The hotel is in a great location just on the edge of Funchal centre. Our room was on the 5th floor overlooking the ocean with beautiful views. Our only issue was that the bed was very firm, although this was cured when the hotel added a mattress topper to the beds after mentioning this fact to Expedia."

"The hotel is above a shopping centre without any grounds around the hotel, however, it is in an excellent location within easy walking distance to the old town. All the staff were very helpful throughout our stay. The bedroom was sleek and modern with an ‘open plan’ shower/wash area. The beds were very comfortable with 3 different pillows varying from soft to firm. There are no views other than from the rooftop swimming pool and bar area but this didn’t significantly detract from the stay as we were out most of the time. The breakfast buffet was excellent with good quality ingredients and freshly squeezed orange juice. We were also amused by the mobile robot which took the dirty dishes back to the kitchen. Overall the hotel lives up to it’s 5 star billing, is excellent value for money and I would highly recommend a stay at the Vine the next time you are in Funchal."
