We are a quiet tight middle age parents with two boys, 16 and 20 year old. It was our long anticipated trip. We were looking specifically for the unit that has AC, July in Sicily is very hot. This property was listed as having an AC. When we arrived we discovered that there is no AC in the bedrooms. When we tried to negotiate the refund or partial refund the owner was adamant not to compromise. He said as long as there at least one air conditioning unit he can say in advertising that there is an AC, implying that we should have been asking about every room separately . From our correspondence: “Since it is not clearly specified that there is air conditioning in the bedrooms there is nothing different in what you found.” “The advert mentions that there is air conditioning among the amenities and in fact you have found it in the living room. In no parts of the advert is specified that there is air conditioning in the bedrooms”. We could not afford to just lose $800, and go to another place although I tried to negotiate. I slept in the living room, my husband slept outside, on the cot bed, boys blasted fans and slept under wet sheets. It was nightly nightmare.
The rest is serviceable. The house is old. Water does nor drain from showers, so you stand ankle deep in soapy water, and the sink in one of the toilets does nor drain. There is a strong moldy smell from that one.
While the property is located across the beach, there is no water view, only view of the parked cars in front of the house, an iron gate and a road. The beach is unremarkable, packed with people. There are two bars directly In front of the house, that play loud music relentlessly, day and night. If you are looking for a relaxing family vacation- it’s not a good place for you. Check in and out was easy.
