We chose the "Ranch House" for its central location to off-road / hiking trails and river activities. We were looking to stay in a relaxing environment to come "home" to after a day of exploring the great outdoors. From the moment we entered the front door, we felt like this was a second home to us.
The "Ranch House" is filled with historic ranch charm, embellished with custom textiles and thoughtfully decorated throughout. The home is brightly lit by all the windows which provides you with 360 degree views of the meticulously groomed surrounding grounds. Our children took a liking to the cozy sun room where they played the over-sized checkers game at the four-person game table. We enjoyed preparing our meals in the open, modern kitchen which looked out to the pond, the home to two white swans. The real lure of the property is out back though. Walk out the back door and your eyes are immediately drawn to the vast green pasture and a back drop of stunning mountain views. We enjoyed every evening on the back patio where we grilled, played card games and watched the cows graze until the sun set behind the mountains. Away from the city lights, the night sky twinkled with stars and the landscaping chirped with frogs which was the perfect setting for roasting our s'mores and telling campfire stories.
This home truly is in the center of everything. We enjoyed kayaking the Verde River, hiking along the creek at Bull Pen, learning about the petroglyphs at the V-Bar-V Heritage Site, and seeing the Sinagua cliff dwellings at Montezuma's Well. It's also an easy drive to Sedona, Cottonwood, Jerome, Strawberry and Pine. You can enjoy grilling meals at the ranch (be sure to pick up some fresh local meat from the Feed Store on Main Street) or dine at one of the local restaurants like the Verde Brewing Company (best burgers ever!).
It's important to note that our stay was during the busy Memorial weekend. While the "Ranch House" is right off the 260, a main route to other weekend warrior destinations, we were never bothered by road noise and the house was very quiet.
Thank you Irene for creating this serene gem in Camp Verde. It was perfect in every way!
