Welcome to Big Sky Country!
Before I jump into the description, I must tell you that September and October are, by far, one of the most magical times on the ranch. Crowds are gone, the fishing picks up and elk are a daily occurrence on the property. You can hear their bugling and "cow screams" from dusk into the AM. It's indescribable and hits your soul! It's like having a mini-Yellowstone and you can stay in your PJs!
This is not your typical, "Montana Log Home." In fact, far from it. Our home is truly incredible and its unique craftsmanship, while situated on a private 2,000 acre ranch with 4 miles of private Madison River access, will take your breath away. The house is one of 6 homes featured in the 2013 Madison Valley Home Tour by the Madison Valley Medical Center. 13 miles of private dirt roads and trails to run, bike or hike in addition to private ponds (stocked with Western Cutthroat trout!) and Yellowstone-like wildlife that you can view without the typical crowds and tour busses of people. Did we say PRIVIATE? We just ask that you please be considerate and respectful of the moose, elk, deer, and (occasional) wolves by keeping your distance and enjoying them for their wild beauty rather than an 'Instagramable moment.' :-)
Many of our guests are repeat visitors and we expect you will fall in love with the river, the mountains, and the beauty of our Madison River Valley Lodge as well. Oh, and the fishing is some of the best in the world - right out the front door!
The home is scrubbed clean after each stay. Our cleaning team thoroughly disinfects and sanitizes all kitchen and bathroom surfaces, as well as frequently touched surfaces such as tabletops, light switches, doorknobs, stove, fridge and more. Linens and towels are thoroughly washed. The Madison River Lodge is extremely unique, comfortable, inviting, and warm with hand-crafted interiors by expert artisans from an Amish community in MT. Everything is powered by solar energy and backed up by the grid. This is truly a one-of-a-kind new, environmentally sensitive dwelling.
Madison River Lodge is nestled perfectly in fisherman's paradise. The home and property are surrounded by majestic mountains with 4 miles of PRIVATE access to the Blue-Ribbon waters of the Madison River. Drive or walk down the driveway, pull up your waders and you will find yourself standing in a trophy river with a backdrop of the Madison Range mountains above you. When you are ready to explore, other nearby fishing spots including, Hebgen Lake, Henry's Lake, Quake Lake, Coffee Pot, and Cliff and Wade Lakes. Yellowstone National Park is just a scenic 42-mile drive away. If you want to stay local, the property has several stocked ponds and creeks in addition to the private Madison River access.
For those of you who like to mountain bike or trail run, make sure you get up early to run or bike the many miles of gravel roads and trails for the amazing views and wildlife viewing on the 2,000-acre ranch. You are just about guaranteed not to see a vehicle go by!
While you are at the house, keep your eyes out for bald eagles, osprey, mule deer, big horn sheep, moose, and elk.
Unforgettable 270-degree vistas of mountains, river and ever-changing light. In the evenings, hike or drive to view wildlife similar to Yellowstone's on this 2000-acre ranch. If you wish to visit Yellowstone National Park, it's a beautiful 42 mile-drive away. For some real Cowboy Town action, Ennis is 30 minutes north. Bozeman is around 1.25 hours Northeast.
Wireless internet is also available throughout the house but heck, we recommend you stay offline and ignore your email!

The house has 4 bedrooms and 3 baths, laundry, grill, ample parking, complete privacy and safety on a secluded, private ranch.
The kitchen contains top-of-the-line equipment including double Miele ovens with Magic Chef programming, a DCS gas cook-top, a silent Bosch dishwasher, a large refrigerator with freezer compartment, and a good size pantry. There is an outdoor Weber gas grill.
The house has a steam bath as well as a Jacuzzi bath.

The 3500 sq. ft. house was built during 2007-09 using renewable resources. It features thick adobe-style walls which, together with a highly insulated roof, keep the house at a constant comfortable temperature for a good part of the year. The house is designed to admit the winter sun and protect against the summer sun. Each room in the house features an interlocking, artistic interplay between wood and plaster. The plaster is a green product with a low carbon footprint (it absorbs CO2 from the atmosphere) and has high vapor exchange properties which tends to preclude water condensation. Straw bales are the insulation between the exterior and interior plaster.
There is a large outdoor porch sitting area with comfortable rocking chairs; a number of small sitting patios tucked strategically around the outside of the house with marvelous views; an outdoor picnic area; plenty of open space to enjoy; and complete privacy.
The house sits adjacent to an elk migration route (fall and spring) on land that may be considered part of the greater Yellowstone eco-system. The house is situated on a 2,000-acre ranch subdivision which has 1600 acres in conservation for recreation. The ranch resources include 3 ½ miles of riverfront on the Madison River, 2 trout ponds, a tributary of the Madison (Horse Creek), wildlife, and 12 plus miles of private roads for jogging and walking.

Area activities include river, lake fishing, river floating (a boat launch just downriver from the house), hiking, sightseeing/ exploring, biking, horseback riding, camping, cross country skiing, and an enormous area of BLM Land and Beaverhead National Forest abutting the southern end of the ranch.
