"This is the kind of gorgeous, historic property that you can only find in Europe. Details were thoughtful, the lawns and property itself were carefully maintained. The rooms themselves are all each well appointed lofts/apartments. The owner was attentive when we told her that we had to leave before breakfast so she brought a coffee tray and toasts to our room at 6am the next morning. I would suggest paying at the hotel on arrival because there was some confusion about pre-paying the rooms, but...

Piccolo paese, macchina necessaria per spostamenti, esterno villa mantenuti discretamente, appartamento giuste dimensioni, angolo cottura da rivedere. Parcheggio interno villa posti limitati. Ho trovato macchie di stucco sulla carrozzeria dell'auto al checkout. "

"Une chouette semaine au calme en montagne. Nous aimons les lieux un peu atypique et loin de la foule. Ayant un métier entouré de personnes et de demandes constantes, j aime me retrouver dans des petits déserts humains. Ce petit chalet est situé en montagne au dessus de Biella en Italie. Pour y accéder, il faut une voiture SUV ou 4/4. La route qui mène à la maison est non goudronnée et cela prends 10 minutes pour arriver. Bien faite les courses avant car le premier supermarché est à Biela....

Hanging Out with the Ghosts of Rosario Scalero's Students

"Staying in a true stone castle, with a tower, wrought iron door hardware, frescoes, and excellent accommodations was amazing enough, but to share the spaces with the ghosts of Rosario Scalero's esteemed students of music and walk the trails of the pilgrims from Canterbury to Rome conjured up a special magic for our group of 8 music, food, and wine-loving Midwesterners. Karl was an excellent host with his local team of Moreno and Giulia, helping us discover the wonders of the region and the friendly village at the castle's base. The one item that should noted for other castle-lodgers that was not apparent to us in the listing is the difficulty of hauling luggage by hand up and down the steep winding and stony path or several hundred stairs - ultimately worthwhile for most of our group, but very limiting to one or two members with mobility issues. Those with adequate fitness can plan ahead for packing mainly essentials, but those for whom rigorous daily climbs would be challenging should think twice. Nevertheless, the majority of our group would enthusiastically hope to return some day, definitely worthy of the effort! "

"What an incredible treasure! Stayed with my 2 kids (5 & 8) and they were shocked and amazed with how incredible this mansion was! Tastefully decorated with a FABULOUS breakfast, highly recommend. Restaurant was closed for our visit they recommended a pizzeria with a woodfire oven (6eur Pizzas that were amazing). I would go far out of my way to go back here! Book it today! "
