There is an open plan living area with a cosy wood burner, a modern German central heating system and comfy Hypnos beds to come home to after a day of adventure, and lots of outdoor space surrounding the cabin. Fishing for two rods (not supplied) on the river is free of charge and this stunning natural woodland is heaven for walkers, cyclists and wildlife enthusiasts. Red squirrels, otters and even the elusive pine marten have been spotted locally. There are water sports on Loch Lubnaig and as Strathyre is on the Rob Roy Way and a National Cycle Route, there are many waymarked routes for either a quiet ramble or a full-on hike. This is ideal as a base for hill walkers and climbers to tackle the munros Ben Vorlich, Stuc a’Chroin, Ben Ledi and Ben Lawers. For a more relaxed approach, Callander, 9 miles, has a good range of shops, pubs and restaurants and there are wonderful scenic drives through the Trossachs with boat trips on Loch Katrine, and a visit to historic Stirling Castle, 24 miles away, is a day of intrigue in itself.
