Rhapsodic Window Onto This Island Jewel
Part II of my Review
The small community of Loreto where the Casa is located, has one main street with several bars, an appliance shop, a market, and a grocery store. The grocery is well stocked (and there is also a chain of large modern groceries scattered around the island). We enjoyed Sunday service at the Catholic Church in town with its outside pews. We also especially enjoyed discovering the network of verada that connected homes and gardens in the terrraced hillsides. Suddenly, at the end of a week we uncovered the community of this lovely little town. Many thanks to Odete and João who welcomed us so graciously to their property. Odete was particularly helpful in responding immediately to questions about the very modern kitchen appliances (a convection oven and an induction range). I am pleased to be able to sing the praises of Casa da Bordadeira with unrestrained enthusiasm.
