The hotel has a terrific view of the pyramids from the rooftop and the owner is friendly. That's where it ends.
I should clarify that I did not select this hotel. The hotel which I booked brought us here (at 9 pm) because it was unable to accommodate us. This accommodation seemed inferior to the one we booked (which had an elevator), yet, we basically paid the same rate.
The accommodation is poor. Our hot water heater did not work. It turned off while showering and would not turn back on. We told the hotel and they told us it had been fixed, but the same thing happened the 2nd night. Once soaped up, you have no choice but to finish with cold water, an unpleasant experience during winter. The shower flooded the bathroom. The wifi did not work in the room (4th fl). On day 2, the hotel finally brought us a router. There was difficulty in getting breakfast. I went upstairs at 8 am, but breakfast was not ready. It was finally brought to us after 9 am, making us late for a tour. The food itself was cold and mediocre at best.
To add insult to injury, when I booked an expensive white desert tour, we were quoted in USD, but charged in EP. I told the hotel it was overcharging, but was told the exchange rate had changed. My credit card statement shows I overpaid. I contacted the owner asking for compensation of the overcharge and lack of hot water. He offered me a free stay on my next visit. Unlikely I will go back and if I did, I wouldn't stay here.
