Staff was nice but building was really old, it looked like a jail or like in horror movies. Really old. Plus they were located on 4th floor and elevator doesn't work on the floor of 4th. Shower room smelled so bad and not hot water even. Decided not to shower or use the restroom

Brothel
Did not even stay there. The place was filthy in the middle of a dark alley in the ghettos of Cairo. Shoddy creepy building with a broken fridge as a lift, which we didn't dare use. Soon as we got there, we left and went to Raddison. Avoid. Place looked like a brothel from the movie Taken

WARNING: DO. NOT. STAY. HERE!!!!
Where do I even begin. This was one of the worst accommodation experiences I have ever had. The hotel experience started out fine. We checked in and Mamoud offered us a (seemingly) great deal - $45 USD per person to be taken around for two days to the pyramids, city tour and a dinner cruise. It sounded fantastic, but after the first day of being driven to the Pyramids, with no options except one particular camel/ horse guide shop. ALSO our "guide", and incredibly sweet man, spoke next to no English, so it actually wasn't a "guide" so much a private chauffeur. For what we paid we could have gotten the same service from Uber and saved a ton of money. Next, our toiletries that we had set in the bathroom were stolen by the maid- the bathroom by-the-way, had the sorriest excuse for a shower - a tiny tile basin, no shower curtain and a spray head. We were livid because we are traveling for six weeks and this is our lifeline to having some sanity in the ability to "get clean" after a dirty, dusty day exploring. Mamoud handled It terribly, he basically laughed at our anger and did nothing to rectify the situation. He also made the excuse that she "threw it out". Also, there was a mouse in the room and it chewed through one of our bags and some clothing. No communication was given about breakfast, which was supposed to be included but we did not receive all three days we stayed there. Understand that any service he offers is a scam/ waste of money. Do the research and find your own

Very crude but for the price I will not complain. It would have been nice to receive a towel.

Solo travel hostel experience
Very positive stay here. It's a nice little hostel with a charming little sunroom/common area. The location is right across the street from the Cairo Museum which can't be beat. They also arranged a city tour (Coptic, citadel, and museum) for me. Note that the tour does not come with a guide, rather it's a driver who takes you to the spots you want, when you want, and returns to pick you up when you decide. I also booked airport transfers. Every employee or driver was very nice. Definitely recommend staying here if you're looking for convenient location and help with getting around the city. Not a party hostel at all when I was there which suited my needs.

ok for the price i guess
The check in was a little interesting. The owner, Muhammed was a bit pushy and not very accommodating. We rented a room for two nights even though we only needed one because our flight was leaving late the next night. Upon arrival I was informed I had to spend the first night at a room in the hotel upstairs. I asked if there was anyway we could stay two nights in one room, regardless of which room or hotel we stayed at. He said not to worry to just go to sleep and come back in the morning that I could bring all my belongings to the front and he could take them to my room. This was a bit strange as we were in a foreign country and someone was telling us what to do with our travel arrangements. We had to end up splitting our one day in Cairo in pieces so we could accommodate the check in at the other room. Breakfast was ok....no milk for coffee....kind of weird. The bathroom flooded and smelled... the hotel is hard to find as it is in the middle of an alley on the 4th floor of a building.

Wish I had booked elsewhere
Booked a private room with bathroom. Arrived late to find no private room and was given a bed in mixed dorm already occupied by the opposite gender. As it was late, Ihad no choice, slept poorly and left as early as possible.

The Worst Welcome to Cairo
We arrived at 8pm after an 8 hour bus ride from Sharm to a complete power and water outage. Our room had only a fan but no air con. We left our stuff in the room and went to KFC to use the toilets and get some food since the receptionist told us it would take about 10 minutes to fix. We came back an hour later and it was still dark so we plugged everything in and went to sleep sweaty and gross without being able to shower there. At midnight everything flicked on and woke us up. In the morning we were served breakfast of bread rolls, honey and a piece of cheese. I asked the manager for a room with air con and he complied and offered us a ride to the pyramids. We weren't going there but instead the museum. We stayed another night and the next morning we tried to cash in the ride to the pyramids but no, offer expired. I asked to extend for another night with a discount, again refused. He just started yelling at me that it's not his fault the power and water were out. He has no regard for guest comfort and doesn't make enough effort to rectify issues.

A Nice Place to Spend a Few Days
Overall this was a very good hostel for a few days in Cairo. The building it's in is old and clearly in disrepair, but the hostel itself is well taken care of and clean. The best part about the place is that everyone who works there is extremely friendly and given the downturn in tourism to Egypt, clearly happy to have people staying there. Pros: -Across the street from the Egyptian museum and down the road from Tahrir Square. -Two blocks from the metro. -They offered me an airport transfer for only $10. A reasonable fare for a cab ride (which you won't get if you don't speak Arabic) is still about $8.50 and a whole lot more hassle than it's worth. A staff member also met me at the car when I was dropped off, which helps because the hostel is on the 4th floor and might have been hard to find otherwise. -Absolutely wonderful staff. -Clean hostel, clean room, decent beds, and no problem with hot water or AC. -Walking distance from half of the good restaurants in the city and a $3 cab ride from the rest. Cons: -Each staff member will try to sell you a tour once during your stay. Tell them you aren't interested and they'll stop. I didn't take any of the tours they offered, but I imagine they're pretty worthwhile if that's your thing. -Water pressure was strangely intermittent, but temperature is consistent. -Breakfast is mediocre but some bread, a hard-boiled egg, and a cup of coffee is enough to get your day started.

Ehab the receptionist went above and beyond to make my stay smooth and comfortable. He shared his delicious Ramadan feast with me and other hotel guests for two consecutive nights. I will definitely return and invite those who are playing to visit Cairo to make My Hotel their first choice of accommodation.
