Traditional stone built cottage with fantastic view of lake and mountains

Cwm Deiliog is an idyllic detached 200 year old cottage situated on a leafy hillside overlooking Lake Padarn and the mountains of Snowdonia. Log/coal fire, dining/sitting room, 3 bedrooms sleeping 4/5 all with heaters, kitchen with fridge freezer, microwave, electric cooker and bathroom with bath and shower. Pretty garden and terrace with that wonderful view and garden furniture. Lots of interesting things to visit in the locality. The cottage is not on the road but 100m downhill via a concreted track (uphill on the way back!) A private parking space at the side of the quiet country road.
I do not accept dogs, so please do not ask!

Great location but.....
Tremendous area and views from the cottage. Well kept garden surrounding the property, reallyspecial. But as you enter the place you have a stale not aired smell which didn't disappear on opening windows etc. The armchairs and house textiles needed cleaning for a fresher smell. The freezer wasn't particularly clean. The place is equipped with everything you need, the beds are comfortable but softly sprung. There are no towels or sheets provided and you pay for your electricity plus the descent from the parking to the house is about 120 yards but quite steep. Communication with the host was late and only via SMS. I think with more attention to cleanliness, this place is a gem!

Hidden treasure
We had a wonderful stay in this quaint little cottage. Even our grumpy teen who doesn’t like anyone or anything thoroughly enjoyed her stay and wants to return. The most beautiful views of Snowdon from the living room window. Homely little fire burning and keeping us all cosy. Just idyllic. My son also found Rosalie’s bird poem book and as a parrot owning family he had a good chuckle reading them. 100% we will be back.

Beautiful view
Outstanding views, make sure you are fit to walk up and down to the cottage. Small lanes getting to the cottage, nervous drivers be aware. Totally worth it, such amazing views, cottage is 200 years old, so don't expect mod cons, felt good to be off grid. So relaxing.

Cosy with Amazing view of the lake and Snowdon
My husband and I just got back from a lovely 4 night stay. The cottage is very homely, the open fire was very appreciated in the evenings when the temperature dropped and waking up to the view of the lake and Snowdon was amazing, the best view of everywhere we visited! We were prepared for the cold, and took pound coins for the electric, we made use of the kitchen which was very well equipped and happy to say the water got nice and hot for a bath. The location is good with some nice walks nearby or visiting North Wales. Brace yourself for the walk up/down the drive - the view is worth it! A very special place, thank you Rosie

Best views in the valley
You can’t beat those views, sitting at the table or on the patio looking out across the lake and to the mountains…just stunning! We stayed in April and we needed the fire on to keep the cottage dry..it’s an old mountain cottage so as expected. Beds were comfortable and warm. A lovely bolt hole for enjoying the mountain air and walking

Location perfect, wonderful views of Llanberis
Cottage was very charming and had most things that we needed. The coin operated electricity meter was a bit frustrating, the power cut out at least once every day. The walk to the car park is not far but the hill is VERY steep which makes it quite an effort to unload and pack car.

The most perfect location for Snowdonia
I was absolutely stunned when I found this accomodation. It really is the most incredible little place to stay if you are exploring the Snowdonia mountains. You can see Yr Wddyfa summit from the living room, twin room and garden! It's wonderful. Very quiet and Rosie has left everything you need as it is a stone cottage so does get cold. Remember pound coins as it has an older coin meter. Only attempt to drive down the lane to unload/load if you have experience as it is a very narrow lane not meant for modern cars (I live in a small fishing town with the same type of lanes so was no problem for me). But there's a dedicated parking space on the layby about a 4 minute walk up the lane. It is quite steep for anyone with mobility difficulties or if you are carrying heavy things on your own. Hopefully Rosie will be happy to have me back as I couldn't imagine staying anywhere else when I go to visit my favourite place :-)

Unique cottage with stunning views
Comfortable cottage in secluded location - with stunning views of Snowdon. The owner warns about the walk to / from the house and visitors will certainly have a cardio workout before getting to their cars - but we got used to it and it's a price worth paying for the fabulous location. Canaerfon, Llanberis and the mountains are all quite easily accessible.

Good base for Snowdonia
A simple, clean, reasonably-priced cottage, great for walking in Snowdonia and drying off in front of an open fire in the evening. Two thoughts. You need to go through the twin bedroom to get to the double bedroom, that won’t work for all groups. And the concrete path up to the car wouldn’t have worked for our relative with impaired mobility; it really is steep.

Cwm Deiliog
We've had a great time in the cottage - superb views of Llanberis and Snowdon, secluded location and a lovely fireplace - exactly what we were looking for. Property as described, however, a coin meter for electricity is not mentioned in the description; we found it out from the reviews and also Rosie advised us about it later. The bed was comfortable, the quilt warm, there was a shower/bath with hot water - after we've figured out how to turn the water heater on. :) The living/dining room has a huge window and on sunny days it was pretty warm inside (this was the middle of October) - the window is south-east facing. Otherwise, it did get a bit cold inside but electric heaters were available and Rosie provided us with some wood, kindling and coal for the fireplace, so we spent much less on electricity than expected. We bought more wood at the nearby petrol station. The kitchen was fully equipped but we were not aware that the cutlery was limited (1 big spoon and 2 forks + some plastic forks) but we improvised a bit and all was fine. Rosie always promptly responded to our questions, the cottage was clean (despite some reviews claiming otherwise). Overall, the cottage met our expectations - it is in the village of Fachwen but it is quite secluded and there were no immediate neighbours. The steep track from the car park was worth it. There was also a bonus not mentioned in the property description: apart from many other birds, the garden was inhabited by a cheeky robin who came to welcome us immediately after our arrival. He used to sit outside on the windowsill while we were having breakfast and on our departure day he hopped into the kitchen as if to say "bye" and then followed us to the gate! Cute :)
