An Amazing Stay in a Fanatastic Hidden River Valley
Our stay a Phillip's house was a wonderful retreat from the bustling life of big cities and American work life. The house was well furnished and large with every amenity we could desire. It was a pleasure to stay in this small community of about 400 people with welcoming neighbors, multiple restaurants, a bustling boulangerie and a quiet river flowing through it. While we were only two people, it was clear that the house could accommodate several more guests in excellent fashion. The multiple bedrooms and bathrooms provide for easily shared accommodations. Phillip was always available if we had questions about the house or the community. We were absolutely delighted by the house, Phillip and his partner, and the community.
Our stay was during one of the warmest periods of the year, but the house stayed cool during the day. The dry warm air cooled quickly at night to make sleeping completely comfortable. You might even need a jacket if dining late outside on the hottest days. One fantastic surprise was the complete lack of mosquitos in this village. We still haven't figured out how that can be in a river valley but greatly appreciated it.
This river valley often draws water-loving tourists during the summer, but the house and the area surrounding it was never inundated with wandering crowds. Expect to see some hikers making the Santiago de Compostela pilgrimage walk past the front of the house every day often hoping to stop at the Boulangerie a few hundred meters down the road. The village is also the home of the Pech Merle Cave and its prehistoric cave paintings. This is a must see for all.
My wife an I would recommend this property to everyone who wants a wonderful stay in a small French village.
