This may be an old barn but it has been beautifully renovated and is a spacious, comfortable and cosy place to stay while in the Peak District. It is in a stunning location and Jo made us feel very welcome and was very helpful throughout our stay.
The location is close to many white peak walks. The accommodation is very comfortable with a well stocked kitchen and two bathrooms with powerful showers. Jo, the owner welcomed on arrival and was incredibly helpful when we needed her advice. Will certainly look to visit again
We loved our stay here. The view was great with relaxing surroundings. Loved seeing the horses, sheep and chickens. Jo was a great host. Thank you from us and Pumpkin!
Beautiful cottage in a beautiful location. Just like home from home.
Host was very welcoming and very helpful.
Couldn’t fault the place, everything you needed for a perfect stay.
A great central location to travel to areas around.
We will definitely be back as we still have so much to see around the area.
We had such a relaxing time at Snipe and will definitely be going again. Jo and family made us feel very welcome! A great place to explore the local area with plenty to do and lots of walks. The accommodation was lovely and had everything we needed.
A really lovely cottage with outstanding views and super cosy underfloor heating! Really well equipped and spacious for a family. Bonus being the wonderful tap water (same source as the famed Buxton water)..delicious! Very welcoming, friendly and helpful hosts. Will definitely return!
A lovely place to stay - the cottage was well equipped, in a peaceful setting, very cosy during the cold weather and also close to everywhere we wanted to visit. Thank you.
We were looking for a remote location and this was perfect overlooking the moors
Wonderful views of the moors and very quiet. Accommodation was very neat and tidy and well equipped from the kitchen, utilities, local information, games, DVDs, books, puzzles etc. nice welcome touch of wine, cookies and milk. Joanne was very friendly and provided pre arrival contact information and directions and greeted us on arrival. Joanne and Clive were very helpful getting us out on departure due to the heavy snow (gritting and clearing the drive so we could drive out before the really heavy snow arrived!) We would have been happy to be snowed in but had to make our flight out of England.
Had the most amazing 2 nights at Snipe Cottage, Jo was there the moment we arrived to show us around.
Location was perfect, tucked away on a country lane with spectacular views. Cottage had everything you could need, games, books, everything for cooking a family meal, dishwasher and a washer dryer which came in really handy after muddy walks, there is a clothes airer and the underfloor heating certainly helped in drying boots off in the boot room!
Jo herself was such a lovely host, she gave lots of time to my daughter who is horse obsessed, telling her about each of the horses on the livery and allowing her to feed a carrot or two! She also recommended the most amazing pet friendly pub which is no more than 10 minutes away, The Lazy Trout is a must visit, food was beautiful and they even had a pup menu!
The cottage was central for lots of exploring, Bakewell is a nice town to walk around and Chee Dale Stepping Stones is a fantastic walk, however at the moment the riverbanks are deep mud for at least 2 miles of the walk, therefore only go if you have the right footwear...and maybe a change of clothes in the car, lots of people had fallen into the mud!
Will definitely be back as this flying visit was not enough time in the most beautiful of places! Thank you again Jo!
Beautiful place, very friendly and helpful owners. Set in a very beautiful part of England
We arrived at about 4 o’clock but there was a lot of fog, Jo welcomed us in, a really nice house and it was lovely and warm in the house when we arrived, the next morning the fog started to disappear to reveal a beautiful last scape
We stayed in Snipe Cottage which was lovely…a home from home with everything you need! It’s warm and comfortable and in a beautiful location…lovely being on the farm with friendly sheep and seeing the horses was great too. Would definitely book to stay again. Thank you!
Snipe Cottage is warm, comfortable and has an outside area where a dog can happily enjoy a game of catch-that-stick. The views are impressive and the location gives easy access to Buxton, Bakewell, Matlock and other smaller places. Great eateries nearby!
Had a lovely holiday, cottage was great, views were great, and our host Jo was great. Was a great location for all the day trips and lovely to come back to. We all had a really happy stay!
Everything you would need for a short (or Long) getaway. Very welcoming hosts- nothing too much trouble. An incredible escape from the hustle and bustle of urban life. Highly recommended.
We were four adults (parents and 2 adult daughters) staying in Snipe Cottage in early July 2024.
Nice and clean house, we enjoyed stunning views from the cottage and loved seeing horses, sheep, and chickens around.
However, the double and the single sofa in the living room were a bit tight for 4 adults to sit comfortably, and a coat hanger by the entrance would have been useful.
Overall had a lovely time.
We had a fantastic time staying in Snipe Cottage. The cottage had pretty much everything we needed, and was cozy and comfortable. Joanne was very friendly and helpful. The farm is located in a fabulous spot, and our kids loved the friendly sheep. We'll definitely be coming back.
Warm and cosy, lovely gift pack of milk, wine and cookies, everything you need in kitchen, hosts were lovely and greeted us on arrival. Dog freindly. Close to Buxton, will definately visit again, thank you for a lovely stay x
We arrived in very thick fog, so the glorious views were not visible. The owner came out and welcomed us into the cottage. Nice sized lounge/ dining room. Nice kitchen, i found the oven / grill too low for me as i have back problems & have an eye line at home. Bathrooms gorgeous! Double bedroom of a nice size, beautiful brass bed looked antique with a topper which was fairly soft but for a few days comfy got a good sleep in it. This trip was a birthday surprise for my hubby and he thoroughly enjoyed it and got a nice stress free rest. WE TRIED TO GET A FISH & CHIPS TEA THE FIRST NIGHT FROM LONGNOR, TO OUR SHOCK IT WAS CLOSED AT 1915. After a scary car journey into Buxton on roads which were windy in very dense fog. we got our fish & chips from a Chinese takeaway which were eatable. The cottage is on an Equine farm , the horses are gorgeous, there are chickens and sheep, Jack & Jill are very friendly Jill is a black sheep. We personally will go again net time will be at a time of year that we can see the views and possibly try out the 2nd cottage.
