I ended up visiting/seeing the property and the booked room but not staying there. Firstly, all rooms are located on the second floor that are accessed by a wide but a very steep staircase. After climbing it to see the room, I understood that I won't be able to get my suitcase up the stairs and that each time leaving the room and getting back will be very difficult and hazardous for me. There is no elevator or lift. Secondly, the property is located remotely in a very rural area in the 15km radius from downtown Pau. My first attempt to locate the property failed and took an hour to drive due to the unlit dark rural road. The check-in time is 6pm and it is already dark at the end of November. GPS said "you have arrived" and I was in the middle of nowhere in the darkness next to the sign of some kind of municipal water plant. I contacted the host and advised that I could not locate the property. The host said she was at home and that she would switch on the light on the porch. I made several circles, still didn't see any buildings or light. So I booked a hotel in Pau for that night and returned the next day to find out that I can't stay there. Overall, it is cheap, clean, the rooms are large, but I would only recommend it if you a) have a car, b) have time to spend in traffic leading to Pau in rush hours, c) speak fluent French, d) are young, very healthy and travel light, e) comfortable with VRBO support (not Expedia) - I didn't get back my money for 9 nights.
