Convenient location. Dark alleyway to go into the apartment and waited very long for the manager to arrive. Bathroom shower drain is blocked, lights broken, bed sheet is dirty.

The location of the property was excellent, you are right in the centre of town with lots of shops, cafes and things to do. Sophie was great, she kept in contact with us before arriving and was exactly in time. She was more than helpful. The room was okay for the price however the room was cold at night and there was only one blanket per person which really wasn’t enough. The TV didn’t have any English channels or subtitles which was annoying.

Some of the furniture was a bit old, but for the price it was what I expected. Locking and unlocking the doors was a bit hard at time, but this is a minor issue. Location is excellent, it is in the center and near all historical sites. It is also not far away from the bus stop that takes you to the airport

The only positives here are the location and the size of the room. This accomodation had no reception so we were told to contact Sophie via phone when we arrived in Budapest and then again when we arrived at the address of the accomodation. When we arrived by train we attempted to contact Sophie on the number provided multiple times with no answer. We ended up sending a text message saying we'd be at the address at 2pm for check in. 2:10 came and finally our calls were returned, Sophie informed us her colleague would be letting us in...shortly after we were greeting and checked in by the housekeeper... she took our payment and no receipt was given. The room was large but pretty grubby, the queen size bed had two single sized blankets, the rug in the room looked as if it hadn't been vacuumed in months, there were two towels but no bath mats or hand towels. The wifi was described as "premium" by the facility online, but it cut in and out and honestly the wifi in the local laundromat was faster. There was no housekeeping...we stayed for 3 nights and during that time we did not have our linen changed, fresh towels, rubbish removed....we even ran out of toilet paper and had to get our own. We saw a cleaner one morning and asked for fresh towels, we were told there were some issues with the washing machine and that there was only one.....just one towel for a floor full of people?! There is a communal kitchen with a small fridge full of old mouldy food. Overall, not great.

I was notified the same day about a last minute change in location the reason not totally clear. Something about the previous client not checking out on time and the manager not being able to reach them? In either case I was relocated to a very beautiful and what they said was a much nicer apartment, about 10 minutes from the first location. Clean, immaculate, neat and extremely presentable. Next to transportation and amenities in the downtown area. Ildi met me and was very gracious and waited for me at a late hour. The apartment was also safe and secure with proper locks and key passes. Would like to visit again for sure, but not sure if I'd get the same excellent deal and accommodations. Highly recommended!

Great stay
Sophie was there to greet us as scheduled. She was extremely helpful, patient, polite and eager to please. The accommodation was most convenient, right in the hub. Close to the hop on/hop off bus route and within walking distance of many fascinating places. Would definitely return.

Was cheap and cheerful- good location!
Good for the price! So hot in the room though. Lady that showed us in was lovely. Good for two friends sharing just in need of a bed! Air con would have made a massive difference to comfort! Then again so cheap can't complain we wanted to use our money for drinks and fun!

Since the room has no air-conditioner, during my stay at there the weather was so hot, needed to open the window, the building was facing the street, couldn't sleep well at all, also the drainage of shower was so bad, the bathroom was almost flooded, it was a nightmare. Not recommending to stay during summer time.

Its was very nice staying in this Hotel, very clean, very helpful staff, noise free. Location was perfect in the city centre. Metro station just 5-8 mins walk. Room was big, very clean room & batchroom. It was very relaxed and price for this hotel was very cheap. I would recommend this Hotel, next time definitely will stay in this hotel again.

Great location!
As most reviews mentioned, this is a serviced-apartment. While the room was well-furnished, clean and had good water pressure, the way up was an eye-opener for me anyway. The person who contacted me was most kind and helpful, and that made the stay very positive. The neighbourhood was exciting and in the middle of town.

Worst place
A horrible experience. First, this place is not up to the standard for appropriate lodging. There is no staff on the site. You have to call before going there, otherwise, nobody there to check you in. Our train was delayed for three hours. So by the time we got there, no one was there. We waited outside on a busy street in strong wind for 45 minutes for checking-in. Secondly, the hotel is very hard to find. We got to the address ok but the actual hotel is nowhere to find because the address is just a big apartment complex and there was no hotel name on the building. Thirdly, it took three keys to get into your room. One key to the gate. One key to the private apartment unit. One room key. Rather confusing. Then, the staff's attitude was bad. When we got upset with waiting, we complained about it, the staff simply started to threaten not to give us the room ! We would have just left but it was past 9 pm and with two heavy bags so we had to take it! Fourth, the staff insisted on taking cash only even though it is not the case by the website. We had to go several blocks to withdraw cash from an ATM machine. So staying there was just unnecessarily complicated and high inconvenient for guests. Fifth, several things were broken in our room (#3): the toilet laid was off; the holder of shower head was broken; shower was so small and you could easily bump into the hot water. My wife got burned several times; the bed sheet was dirty with stain (photo to prove upon request); wet towel.

Great location and price
Traveled to Budapest in late September and stayed at the Budapest Royal Suites II. Note that when you are looking for the place, the sign outside will actually read "Carmen Mini Apartments". The hotel itself is not really your typical hotel, has more of a feel of renting a room in a house with a private bathroom. The room we stayed in was pretty small, but we expected that much as is typically the case with most places in Europe. The location of the building is great, situated on a major street with walking distance to most everything. When we got to the Hotel, we were greeted by Sofie (she helps manage the place); she was very pleasant to talk to and was able to give us a lot of advice on where to dine. Overall, the price was right as we were traveling on a budget and knew we would not be spending much time in the hotel.

Firstly the 'Royal Budapest Suites' does not exist. After walking around Budapest asking people where this establishment is for around 2 hours, we discovered that it is actually called hotel Carmen (ignore the location they give you on this website it takes you to the wrong place) and is located in what is essentially a scruffy back alley. Finally finding Wi-Fi, and discovering an email asking us to meet with a rep of sorts outside said alley we found the hotel up a none descript stair case within one of the buildings in the alley. Climbing the Soviet era stairs that brought back memories of reading of the battle of Stalingrad we arrived at the appartement front door that in no way stated that this was the place or even a hotel. The room we were given within was large, clean and air conditionened and made for a surprising change to my initial shock. Staff were friendly (for the one and only time we saw them) the place cheap, central location and overall a pleasant experience. Don't judge a book by its cover upon arrival is the phrase to describe this hotel it does actually look like the pictures inside the appartement, very nice. Just email them and ask where the heck the place is before you go to avoid messing around trying to find it for hours!

Functional, good location
It was a little difficult to find. Fortunately hotel employee Sofie met me at a predetermined time, chosen by me, to show me the hotel, the room, and all the ins-and-outs. Really, Sofie was great! The room was very basic but served its purpose. It was in a great location, walking distance to pretty much anything you'd want to see in the city.
