Boggs Hollow retreat in a Smoky Mountain Equestrian Community

Location:
Boggs Hollow is located next to a picturesque mountain valley horse pasture that borders the Great Smoky Mountain National Park in Bryson City, NC. This beautiful corner of the Smoky Mountains is known as The Settlement at Thomas Divide. Guests staying at Boggs Hollow can rent the use of a Horse Paddock for a small fee of $15 per night. Please visit the Thomas Divide page for more information if you would like to bring your Horse on your next vacation. The Thomas Divide Horse and Hiking Trails in the National Park are just a few minutes Horseback Ride from the pasture. A beautiful short scenic drive past the Thomas Divide trail head takes you to one of the most popular sections of the GSMNP known as Deep Creek.

This cabin is conveniently located less than 10 minutes from downtown Bryson City. Enjoy the local shops, restaurants, and breweries of the charming mountain town, or stop by and check out the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad train depot, all located in Bryson City. The Deep Creek entrance into the GSMNP is also located just outside of Bryson City, packed with great hiking trails, beautiful waterfalls, and during the spring and summer months, excellent tubing! You also have the Harrah's Casino, the Oconaluftee River hiking trails & tubing, the popular Mingo & Soco waterfalls, and the Sequoyah National Golf Course all located in Cherokee, NC about 15 minutes away. You can reach the Almond Boat Dock on Fontana Lake in about 20-25 minutes for some great swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, and canoeing options! Or you can experience the exhilaration of white-water rafting, zip lining, and other adventurous excursions out in the Nantahala Gorge located about 20-25 minutes away.

Exterior:
Boggs Hollow sits above a 4 car garage, just off the main road for Thomas Divide separated by a small section of forest. To the right of the building is a gentle slope leading up to the entrance of the deck on the back of the building. The wide deck has a gas grill and Adirondack chairs to enjoy the fresh mountain air and forest view. The entrance to Boggs Hollow is at the far end of the deck.

Entry Level:
Entering through the front door you will be struck by the spacious open floor plan with vaulted ceilings. The interior has a bright clean look and feel. Please leave any muddy hiking boots here by the front door. Ahead and to the right of the front door is the living room area. There is a new leather reclining sofa and love seat in front of the tv and picturesque windows displaying the views. To the left is the large kitchen and dining area. The custom island with a quartz top serves as the dining table with seating for four. The kitchen also has quartz counter tops with plenty of space to prepare a quick meal in. All cooking and dining utensils are include. The cabinets still have room for additional pantry supplies.

Towards the back of the room sets a pair of custom barn doors. These slide open to reveal the master bedroom. The king size bed faces you as you open the doors. To the right of the bed are a set of closets with sliding doors to stash your suitcase and gear. To the left of the bed is another custom sliding barn door that opens into the master suite. The master bath features a large vanity and a large shower. Since you do not have to share the hot water with anyone there should be plenty to spare.

In every room and corner of Boggs Hollow you will find clean new furnishings and fixtures. A definite upgrade to anyone not wanting to stay in a hotel.

Interesting Surroundings
Cabin was wonderful, hosts were wonderful, and area is great. However, we walked the dogs up and down the road and a few moments later a side by side with the owners of the property seemed to corral us back to the cabin with the dogs. It was very odd for we felt like he was herding us back to the cabin and to stay off the road. After that we could not help but feel like we were being watched. Also the "come check the cabin everyday" policy seemed a bit overbearing. We kept the cabin clean but we did live in it, I left the top lock locked and the bottom door knob lock unlocked when we went out, when we returned the bottom door knob lock was locked so that told us someone had been inside. It felt like we were being checked on and I didn't care for the "big brother" aspect of the stay. There is also an access door that leads into an open area that was locked, a plant was in front of it but it could be another access point from the garages below the cabin. The people were friendly enough but the aspect of feeling like we were being watched the entire time made us want to leave early. An FYI for people with dogs is the cabin is very pet friendly but the Smokey Mountains National park is not, JIC you want to take your pups for a walk on the hiking trails dogs are prohibited except for two short trails. Nantahala Park is pet friendly though.

Beautiful carriage house! Perfect for our stay. Great location between Bryson City and Cherokee. We really appreciated the coffee/creamer provided. I would recommend 4x4 in the winter or wetter months. We will be back!

In a very short walk up the driveway, the most spectacular View
This cabin is for a couple, one large bedroom, king bed, large closet n bathroom. Nice size living room combo kitchen with a sitting Island. Sofa recliners, the cleanest home we have ever stayed in. This cabin is fairly new, and is above a garage, but only a few steps from your car all on one level, no stairs to climb, the driveway is up a slope and with rocks, not really ideal for any wheelchair, but we did great there. Nice size back deck with a propane BBQ. The home is about 10-15 min to Bryson City and about 20 min to Cherokee and Harrahs Casino. One of the coolest things we visited was about a 45 min ride to Maggie Valley and "Wheels Through Time" a motorcycle museum. Clingmans Dome is about 45 min up the Great Smoky mountain national park, and from there you can visit Gatlinburg but that is a little over populated for our taste. (Only thing I missed was not having a washer or dryer but this is a new cabin and they do have a closet with hookups for the future, so if your staying for any length of time either bring plenty of close or take your laundry to town) Overall it was just perfect for that private, quiet vaca. We will return to those beautiful views just up the driveway, absolutely breathtaking.

We had no trouble finding the house. The lockbox was a little aggravating to get into but we managed. The driveway on the end of the house is gravel and too steep even for my 4x4 truck. It started digging ruts so we had to carry everything from the road in front of the house up the drive to the only door on the back of the house. If you or someone with you are not able to walk up hill easily this is not a good choice. We were here a week and had to make many trips up and down the drive. As another guest had said, it could use window blinds especially in the bedroom. That end of the house is toward the main road and we had no trouble seeing into the bedroom at night. On the positive side, it is a very modern house in a great location and close to many great attractions. We would stay here again.

Privacy and security concerns
The unit was nice but lacked any window coverings. It is very remote and the cabin has large windows. It was pitch dark at night making it very uncomfortable being inside without any way of covering the windows. Also it did not have an interior lock in place to prevent someone from entering with a key. I called the management and they assured me that they change the code on the lockbox after every guest, but that does not guarantee that someone did not make a copy of the key. The wi fi went out the second day, but per the information documents in the cabin, they are not responsible for fixing it or reimbursement since it is a free amenity, so don’t assume there will be internet. I left early because of the issues and they did not refund any of the stay. It was very disappointing.

We were very pleased. The only problem was that we had only 1 washcloth for 2 people, and in the kitchen, there was 1 dishcloth that had seen better days and nothing to wash dishes with.

Best Getaway Ever!
From the moment I booked our stay to the moment we pulled out of Boggs Hollow to head back home, our experience was above and beyond to say the least! We could not have chosen a better place to stay, as it was incredibly clean, cozy, and just overall perfect. I also ordered a welcome basket that was waiting for us upon our arrival, which was the cherry on top of one of it all. It was hands down one of the best weekends of my life, and I truly cannot wait to return one day! :)

Very nice couples cabin! Secluded and peaceful. There is plenty to do within 20 minutes of the cabin. Plan to make sure you get there before dark as it is easy to miss the driveway and get lost in the switchbacks above.

Lovely, amazing cabin. Beware of lack of street's name signs
My xperience, our experience was very pleasant. We truly enjoyed ourselves in the comfort of the cabin. The cabin is lovely. The location, nature around, scenery and views are amazing, inviting to explore and take walks. The experience with our dog was good. There were not very friendly neighbors dogs. I wished there were a fenced area, to let my dog run free without worries. Something to warn visitors, is the frustrating difficulty to follow directions and to find the cabin at first. There is a troublesome lack of name signs of roads/streets to appropriately you move around the area. We could not find the cabin and follow the directions given, due to the annoying lack or hidden name signs. We tried to enjoyed it as part of the trip but...after driving 5:30 hours trip you're tired and eager to arrive. This lack of signaling street's names was not only the case in the vecinty or inmediate area of the cabins...there is a lack of street names signs in the whole area of Brysin City and Cherokee. Overall the cabin and area are so wonderful that it is worth to ignore the difficulty of lack of street's names and end up just use your memory.
