The week between Christmas and New Years is WAY TOO CROWDED and I would never go back during that week. This was my second visit to Brussels, and it's a great city and an excellent jumping off point for other European cities.
Take time in Quartier du Centre - Centrumwijk to visit attractions like La Grand Place and Rue des Bouchers. You might also appreciate the interesting museums, and you can hop on the metro at Bourse-Beurs Station to see more of the city.

Our trip was cut short because of the travel ban but i will definitely come back again!

Getting around Belgium is very easy & for someone from CA, nothing is all that far away. Brussells is a place full of history & beautiful architechture, breweries & little cafes. I found the people to be friendly & very accepting of foreigners.
