Kress's location is perfect and the decor of the hotel is fabulous. However, we had serious problems with the noise issues in the Gloucester room we rented. The loverly brick wall in the bedroom is attached to a lively bar on the other side. It was very loud in our room till near 1am They give you a noise machine to offset the sound but that didn't help much. Worse, they knew of the issue and didn't tell us when booking - the noise machine and apparently Thursday to Sunday they don't book that room. They had several empty rooms the night we were there so really they could have moved us to allow us to enjoy our evening.
The hotel room is also street level, so you have noise from the street as well. That part was not as much of an issue but a concern since you really can't open the blinds as you are right on the main street.
Again, the Kress is a beautiful hotel with superb location but the Gloucester room is a must to avoid if sleep is a consideration for you.
The manager was made aware the next morning and offered us a future upgrade but failed to give us a biz card to say her name so it seems like its a bit a long shot of happening.
There was one other upsetting item that we had but I'll keep that to myself as I wouldn't want any of their staff to have issues this time of year.
In short, lovely place if you avoid rooms on the left side of the hotel.
