We can't say enough great things about this beautiful farmhouse cabin nestled into the woods bordering the Ouachita Nat'l Forest! First off, it's secluded and feels like being a world away from civilization; however, there are restaurants, distilleries, breweries, shops, and groceries all within a 2 - 10 minute drive. The cabin has glorious views through the 25' wall of windows and the splashing of the creek from the deck is so relaxing. We spotted deer, all kinds of birds, squirrels, and wild turkeys. We had coffee on the deck each morning, grilled some select pieces from Mountain Man Meat Market, also ate dinner out at Grateful Head Pizza and Shuck Me + had take-out from Mountain Fork Brewery - all of it simply delicious! We popped in The Tasting Room one afternoon for a whiskey flight and had great conversation with some locals where we learned a bit about the distilling process. We decided to drive the 35 - 40 minutes into Idabel one afternoon and visit the Museum of the Red River, which was a nice little outing where they have an impressive dinosaur skeleton and many lovely pieces of Native American pottery. There are plenty of interesting and fun things to do in the fall & winter in the area, so don't think you have to wait for spring & summer for outdoors + water activities. Jason & Rachel are very hospitable hosts for this PERFECT cozy spot for great R&R. We didn't want to leave and look forward to returning soon!!
