“A charming fisherman’s cottage with beautiful views over the harbour and sea”

‘Trade winds’ is a charming fisherman’s’ cottage situated in Customs Court, just off the harbour. This area of Brixham was well known for its smugglers hatches and secret routes passing right under the nose of the old Customs Cottages housing the Customs Officers dating back some 300 years!
The cottage is brimming with charm and character including historic sea charts, exposed stone walls and old beams. Trade winds is a very light and bright cottage built over four levels with two double bedrooms, both enjoying superb harbour and sea views.
Trade winds location is excellent; a real crow’s nest perched over Brixham offering an intimate view of the water’s edge, which is literally 50 metres walk away.

Brixham is rapidly embracing fine cuisine and cafe culture, you will find many places to sit and enjoy the harbour views and relax into a slower pace of life. As Brixham is a fishing port many of the town's restaurants specialise in fresh fish and you can regularly find the 'catch of the day' being served. Also, the South West Coastal Path is close to the property, with many other fine local walking areas.

Paignton is within easy reach and is one of the most popular destinations for families in the English Riviera. The area has a host of attractions; restaurants, cafes, cinema, beautiful golden sands and the popular Paignton Zoo that will keep the whole family entertained. The property is also perfectly positioned to take the steam train to Kingswear, ferry to Dartmouth or to visit Dartmoor and the many National Trust properties that Devon has to offer.

Trade Winds
The property was set near to the harbour and close to road and car parks (also Rock Fish). Very enjoyable stay, and Brixham is a nicely chilled resort. Weather a bit changeable and more like late Spring than early Summer. Only downside was the conflicting stories of whether the tap water in the area had been flushed out of its germ which was giving people in the locality s & d, and whether the harbour area was 'clear'. Assurances that it was by hosts and some of the restaurants, but then an area near the harbour was still giving out bottled water to the public and officials of SW water were waffling. But that and 1 day of heavy rain were the only drawbacks. Certainly want to come back another time, could be a regular thing.

While the steps inside and out might be a challenge, the cottage was worth it in my opinion. Charming and well-equipped, Trade Winds is right in the heart of the port and close to buses, shops, and restaurants. It was a pleasure to stay here.

Excellent. Everything catered for. Lots of steps up to it which we considered a bonus for keeping us all fit after all that lovely sea food. We will be back.

Quaint Brixham Cottage
Loved our week at Trade Winds. The cottage was immaculately clean and had everything you could possibly need. Superb views from the top floor bedroom window of Brixham harbour, even binoculars are provided. Good directions from the owners on how to get to the cottage and good advice to pre-book 8 day Torbay council parking permit which we were able to use in Brixham/Paignton/Torquay. We hope to stay again in the future. Thank you Tradewinds.

Had a lovely week in Brixham in this beautiful and very quirky cottage, loved how it was set out. Thank you for the lovely cream tea on arrival, was most welcome. Although Brixham was extremely busy we had a good time and the views were breath taking.

Lovely house
Trade Winds is a lovely 4 storey house. The stairs are narrow and steep but there are hand rails on both sides that make the climb safe and easy. Very nicely decorated. Beds are very comfortable and lovely bed linen, duvets and pillows. Views from the bedroom windows are great. Location is perfect - 2 mins walk to the harbour, shops, restaurants and bars. Seagulls are a bit noisy but that is what you get by the sea and harbour! Welcome pack of scones, jam, cream and milk is thoughtful, thank you. We had a wonderful stay in Brixham and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this property.

What a fantastic place. The accommodation was ideally placed close to the harbour, everything you need is provided in this quirky cottage, views from the bedrooms are amazing. Jo the owner was very helpful. The local people are very friendly. The walks are incredible, we were so lucky to get some sunny weather before the rain came on our last day. I would definitely recommend this, the only thing I would advise is you need to be able to manage steps and hills! Thank you Jo for making our stay so lovely. Lynn, Lisa and Pasha

Delightful Escape
What an amazing quaint cottage with views to die for. Wonderful little touches from Jo and Lee with a basket of bits you may have forgotten such a toothpaste, shampoo etc and of course the scones, jam and clotted cream on arrival. Nothing was too much trouble for the hosts and they were on hand when the iron stopped working. This property has everything you need for a relaxing stay and is close to bars, cafes and the picturesque harbour. Be warned it has stairs 😂😂😂 and that adds to the fun and the view from the master bedroom is so worth the climb. Our dogs throughly enjoyed their stay at Trade Winds as did we and we will return. Lovely cottage, lovely town, fantastic time xx

we were counting the days down to our holiday to brixham, on the way down there, we were contacted by the owner who informed us that there had been a problem which had been noted by the previous guests, no need to panick , jo and lee were on to the problem before we arrived, what can i say , the house was spotlessly clean, very light and airy, perfect base for the lovely weather which we enjoyed, a really short walk to everything in the harbour, it was lovely knowing we had a great place to come home to everyday, i really cant say enough about how really nice the owners were, next time we visit brixham i only really need to know if tradewinds is available for the dates, i wont be looking anywhere else

Excellent location, fantastic cottage and wonderful welcome!
We have stayed at many VRBOs over the years and this is definitely one of our top ones. The cottage has a great location for accessing everything Brixham has to offer. The cottage is tastefully and beautifully decorated and has everything you need for a relaxed holiday. Add to this the warm welcome we received from the hosts with homemade scones, jam and cream and you have the makings of a perfect holiday.
