It’s our second time staying at the Doubletree in Brighton. Whilst our room was great, large, and had a huge bed, it did unfortunately stink of stale cigarettes. I don’t think the room should have been assigned to guests unless it had been aired for a few days.
In saying that, I know that this hotel is usually perfection so wouldn’t hesitate to stay again!
Breakfast was amazing and in a beautiful room too.

Worst hotel Experience Ever
I ordered an executive room with sea view. I got basic double with court yard view. On arrival we was told that hotel was fully booked and room I ordered was unavailable and no chance of being moved. We got 2 cookies for our inconvenience. I said we are friends not lovers and didn’t like the fact we had to share the same bed and because we didn’t book directly with the hotel we had to take up with the travel agent.
As soon as we entered the room it had a strong smell of urine.
The room only had one comfortable chair to watch TV to which we took in turns. The bed was so hard it made our bad backs worse and we’re still recovering 5 days later. The quilt inside the duvet cover was too small and very annoying for each of us.
The breakfast was over booked with queues as long as past reception. They opened other room which was freezing in there and so cold coffee became lukewarm in couple of minutes. Breakfast was so cold too that I couldn’t be bothered to go for breakfast the 2nd day.
I paid dearer with the travel agent than going direct as I thought I paid to be upgraded to executive suite. £100 per person per night is a disgrace for what we got and I shall never go back.
The top floor had a bad leak and all they did was put a bucket and towels on the floor.
We complained to Hotels.com only to be told our complaint will be dealt with in 72 hours on our first day NYE and we’re still waiting now 06/01/2025
