Great place to get away from the big city
We are only 2 hours away from Rockin Star, but this was just far enough to get out of the city & enjoy the quiet & slower pace of the hill country. We enjoyed the pool each evening & it was very relaxing. Darrell Sr & Jr were super friendly & helpful with the ins & outs of the property, and Darrell Sr showed us around the property. We were just there for a weekend getaway, but it’s a great place for a family reunion or wedding.

Wonderful!
The experience staying at the Ranch and in this cabin was wonderful! Darrel was very attentive to any/all of our needs, but gave us our space. The Ranch was very serene, quiet, and beautiful. I’d rate this highly for anyone to stay at. Looking to see how we could come back with more family some day to share more of the cabins, the pool, and just kicking back and relaxing. Darrell also asked us for our candid feedback as we left and was interested on what we had to stay so that he could improve the experience.

Great fun for the whole family.
RockinStar Ranch is a great destination for the whole family. Darrell (the host) is incredibly responsive and was gracious with his time. He took us on a tour of the ranch and my 9-year old son had a blast looking at the animals and just riding around. The pool was what initially brought us in, but there is so much more the ranch has to offer. The three of us went fishing each morning and caught and released 20+ fish. My 9-year old also received private riding lessons from Darrell's son, which I highly recommend. We also got to feed some baby goats. The accommodations were as advertised and I know we will be back.

Perfect location!
The property was absolutely beautiful in the country and had lots of amenities. Location was close to Brenham and a short drive to Round Top for shopping. The property had everything you ever wanted in a place to stay away from home . Owner was friendly and made sure had everything during our stay for the weekend. We came for bluebonnets, shopping in Round Top and a peaceful get away for our anniversary.

Fantastic Ranch Oasis
Rockin' Star continues to exceed our expectations every time we come. We came for Father's Day weekend and it was the perfect way to get away with the kids and enjoy the bounty the ranch has to offer. As always, Darrell and his family were amazing - so welcoming and hospitable. The sunset hayride is always a delight and on this trip we not only visited all the amazing creatures housed on property but we also got to release young ducks and a goose onto the small fishing area behind the pool. The boys were thrilled! He has made numerous additions and improvements that make it even more fabulous. Our boys love leaping off the rock fountain into the pool, playing the games and communing with all the creatures - mostly resident pup Bailey - but they also enjoy the simple pleasures of visiting the garden and catching grasshoppers or frogs. We love Rockin' Star and we will continue to come back! Don't miss this incredible getaway!

Vacation w/a little of everything
Best way to start the summer every year. This time we invited friends to experience this little slice of heaven w/us. 3 moms & our 4-5yr olds & one set of grandparents. We rented 4 star cabins that were perfection! Swimming, fishing, s’mores, fed baby chicks, donkey, pigs, goats, turkey& geese. Woke up to a big ole country breakfast w/farm fresh eggs! Watched a gorgeous Texas sunset. Played baseball, basketball, yard games& the boys got to horseback ride. A little slice of heaven in Texas.

Peaceful and Productive Retreat
I booked this for our group because my daughter had her wedding her. All the cabins and the wedding venue were perfect for what she needed, so when it came time to find a peaceful spot for our team to retreat and plan, I immediately thought of Rockin Star. It was perfect! Thank you Darrell, we will be back.

Happy Trails and Wide Open Spaces
What a beautiful 2-night stay we had at the Rockin Star Ranch! From being excited seeing the description and pictures of the property, to actually booking and communicating with Darrell…the process was so easy. Every trip from now on will be compared to this experience. Darrell and his beautiful property set the bar high. The pictures do not do the property justice, they do - but they don’t capture the ambiance of peace, tranquility, “wide open spaces” and reconnecting with nature, watching livestock lazily feeding in the pasture, flowers, and my favorite was Bailey, the sweetest dog ever. She’ll greet you, and come and sit on the porch with you, if you have a belly rub to spare. Enjoyed it much, hope to return! Best wishes!

Charming
I stayed in the Shooting Star cabin the night before a wedding venue as the designer. My cabin was charming and beyond accommodating. The property was unbelievable and has so much more to offer than just weddings. I felt at home in my cabin away from home and was a retreat from the craziness of the wedding venue when I needed to step away for a few minutes to relax or recollect myself. The owner of the property went above and beyond to accommodate any of my needs to assure that the event was a success. The cabins and common area with pool and outdoor kitchen are a nice touch for a group. I will most certainly return to the Rockin Star Ranch but next time it will be as a guest and not for work.

A little piece of Texas heaven
My children and I stayed here this week, and could not have been more pleased! We were met with the kindest gentleman who showed us to our beautiful, clean cabin with all the amenities we needed! It was very evident to us that this place has been put together with the utmost pride and care. We absolutely loved the ranch grounds and all it had to offer (beautiful flowers, animals abound, great pool, lounging areas, and fun game area for the kids!) Zero complaints! ... I have to say, we COMPLETELY disagree with one of the more recent reviews... I'm not sure we even stayed at the same ranch or met the same owner? Needless to say, we will certainly be back, and RSR, yall keep doing you ! :)

Romantic Weekend
We had a wonderful weekend. Felt like we had the entire ranch to ourselves. Our cabin had it’s own personal grill, and mini fridge. So we had to utilize these and made a romantic steak dinner, and enjoyed eating on the patio. We had to take advantage of the entire place, so we strolled into the pasture and fed the cows, saw a few really beautiful elk! We unfortunately did not have enough time to do all the things the ranch has to offer, which is perfect, since we now have many reasons to return. So happy we had the opportunity to enjoy Rockin Star Ranch.

NEEDS ATTENTION
.On the day of checkin, I received a text saying to notify when we were on our way, which I did 3 hours before actual checkin. When we arrived we parked as close as we could to unload our luggage. 2 young men did help us unload since it was a distance from our cabin and the ground was very unlevel. The grounds are not kept up, grass not mowed, dead flowers, and just not maintained. Upon entering our cabin, it became obvious that they had not prepared for our arrival. A/C not cooling, refrigerator not turned on, and found out that nite before showering that the hot water heater wasn’t turned up, so we had cool shower. That evening we were told our cars must be moved quite a distance from our cabins so his kids could park closer. We are the paying guests, which by the way are in our 70’s and 80’s, and he could see my foot was in a brace. The inside cabin was dusty and floors not cleaned.passwords listed for WiFi not working. Beautiful outdoor kitchen, not working. Our last night we were visiting outside, they started a fire in the fire pit so their kids could roast marshmallows. The smoke forced us to our rooms! We paid service fee and cleaning fee, yet instructions say to strip bed and take out garbage. I would NOT recommend this facility. This beautiful place needs some attention!

Soul-Soothing Country Oasis + Texas Hospitality! Can't wait to return!
Rockin’ Star Ranch is nothing short of a country oasis. Whether you’re coming from near or far, I promise you Rockin' Star is worth your time. We moved to the area 3 months ago from LA, and were referred here by a neighbor. Thought it sounded like the perfect staycation for Valentine’s Day weekend and it was! We’re grateful we got a couple relaxing days in before the storm from hell (yes, that one) more formally moved into the region shortly after we left. Despite the frigid temps, we were greeted and treated so warmly. John, the ranch host for the weekend, was extremely helpful, friendly, and kind. He made our stay feel like we were visiting an old friend. And from his stories and the pristine condition of the ranch, I have no doubt Darrell (the owner) is just as caring about everyone's experience. The cabin was rustic perfection. We felt nice and cozy indoors with everything we needed. There is a gorgeous communal outdoor kitchen + dedicated grill for each cabin too. We enjoyed Shooting Star’s comfortable bed, beautiful bathroom, antique decor, and all the little touches that made us feel at home. After sleeping soundly, waking up to see goats and horses trotting just outside our window was such an endearing way to start the day. Over in the barn, we visited with the baby goats + horses. This was no average petting zoo, but a very authentic way to meet the animals. I really appreciated that we were never made to feel rushed, and neither were the animals - all of whom are well cared for, with both a vet + cowboy on-site. Between that and the picturesque scenery, at times it may feel like you’re walking on the set of a Lifetime movie, only less cheesy and the ending is totally up to you. Because it was so cold, we could only longingly admire the resort-style pool and huge patio space, so John took us for an epic ride around the property instead. We saw cows, elk, and even oryx up close (a giddy sight for my city self). We passed a fishing pond and idyllic "hang-out" spots, already imagining our return on warmer days. We were determined to enjoy a campfire - and we did! The large, sunken firepit is centrally located next to the pool, making for the ideal landing spot at both dawn and dusk. I could go on and on, but my summary is this: Life at Rockin' Star Ranch is life as it should be: a space to connect with nature and loved ones, and even with strangers who may become friends. Thank y'all for the memorable stay! Can't wait to return :)
