- A Little Closer To Nowhere -
A one-of-a-kind eco-travel experience, ROAM is a simple - but comfortably equipped - houseboat that can accommodate two guests. Homeported on Lake Pemaquid in Bremen, Maine, you will seamlessly integrate into your surroundings while enjoying visiting loons, sweeping sunsets, and clear northern air.
Welcome Aboard!
This floating space offers a completely immersive vacation experience. ROAM comfortably sleeps two, with one double bed and one slim single bed, both in the main cabin. There is plenty of outdoor space with a forward and aft deck, along with an upper deck accessible by ladder.
So how does a visit aboard ROAM work?
Upon your arrival, your host will greet you in our parking area and help you unload your luggage. ROAM will be waiting for you dockside a short distance away. After you settle in, we'll make sure you have all the information you need for a comfortable visit.
Your host will then shove off from the dock for a quick ride out to your moored location a few hundred feet off shore. Here, you’ll enjoy the simple joy of waterborne living - take advantage of the swim ladder and plunge in the refreshing lake water, or enjoy the outdoor sun decks, cozy reading nooks, and lounge-worthy space.
You’ll remain on this floating oasis until the morning of your departure, at which time your host will meet you aboard ROAM at the pre-arranged time for a quick motor back to the dock.
ROAM will remain on the mooring unless your host is at the helm, but if you'd like to explore more of the lake while aboard, privately chartered cruises may be arranged separately.
Please Note: **For safety and liability purposes, guests are not allowed to operate or move ROAM**
While you're onboard, may we offer the following activities:
- Devour that pile of books that have accumulated on your nightstand
- See who can name the most constellations your first night
- Take an early morning skinny dip in the lake
- Flow through a few sun salutations on the upper deck
- Take that nap you've been meaning to take since last year
You can also do nothing.
As a guest aboard ROAM, the entire houseboat is yours to enjoy - outdoor sun decks with comfortable seating; a wet-bath with toilet, sink, and shower; kitchenette with icebox, 2-burner gas stove-top, and service for two; propane cooking grill; double bed with an additional convertible single sleeping option in the main cabin; swim ladder for access on and off the aft deck.
ROAM is operated in conjunction with another vacation rental property. As our guest, you will have access to and from the houseboat, your car on shore, and offsite should you choose to explore the local area. While the grounds and shoreline are extensive offering a great deal of privacy, we ask that you are respectful of other guests' privacy who may be at the lakeside camp. Your host will help orient you upon arrival.

By design, your experience aboard ROAM will be a decidedly unique one and we want you to feel safe and comfortable during your stay. Be assured that your host, Rheanna, can be to the houseboat in 5-10 mins if any issues arise. She lives on site and has a 24/7 accessibility policy. Cell phone reception is usually good at your moored location - calls or texts work great - but certain cell phone carriers *may* have spotty data service (this is not common). We'll make sure you're comfortable with your ability to contact your host during your time aboard.
We provide check-in / check-out transportation aboard ROAM to and from your moored location; all other movement from ROAM is at your leisure and on your timeline.
Make sure you take food, beverage, and activity requirements for your entire stay into account and bring all of the things you might need with you: medications, preferred drinks and food, sunblock and after-sun lotion, music/podcast downloads, fishing license/gear and bait, water floats, books/games/puzzles, charging cords, extra ice.
We strive to be good stewards of the natural resources we all use and enjoy - please consider your water usage and the waste you produce while aboard. There is a strict no overboard dumping policy and ask that nothing (other than swimming bodies) goes overboard to help preserve our pristine lake!
You will be staying in Maine and enjoying an indoor/outdoor living environment. This environment includes bugs. While the accommodations include insect deterrents (essential oils, screens, mosquito netting, bug spray), there will be bugs sharing your space (mostly gnats and flies). Most guests find that they are a minor nuisance, but please consider your personal tolerance before booking.
Depending on your mobile carrier, you may or may not have strong data coverage while onboard. WiFi is NOT OFFERED during your stay. But that's okay. The live show is much better :)
