Outstanding views of Bom Jesus and the city of Braga. Dining options are limited. Hotel rooms have no coffee maker and the bedding needs to be renewed.

AVOID. This should be 2 star
2 star hotel BEWARE. This hotel is TERRIBLE, I dont know how hey got away with 4 star rating. The hotel room is dirty, floor rug is worn out and disgusting to walk on. Bed sheets are torn and stained after so many washes. The room feels like a monk cloister cell, it is small . The only positive is the location if you are visiting the Bom Jesus church .

A beautiful location.
This hotel is one of 4 located in the grounds of Bom Jesus. The grounds are spectacular and this made our stay very special. However the hotel whilst clean and staff helpful and polite, is dated and needs some repair (fridge didn't work). Bed mattresses were uncomfortable and I think the sheets could have been renewed based on the fact that this is a 4 star hotel. The wifi was very weak in our room and unsecured. Our room did have a small balcony with a view to the Basilica, top of the stairs and over the city of Braga, so it is hard to complain!

Highly Recommended
Amazing hotel, if you want a night away from the city, but don't have much time - Hotel De templo is perfect. Service was incredibly friendly on arrival, the room overlooking the courtyard was perfect, but it's the setting, high above the city of Braga that really kills it! Great value all round

The most fantastic view - but drab inside
It looks great from the outside. Go here for one night if you want to park you car next to the top of the Bom Jesus and have the most fantastic view from your second floor room over the church, steps and surrounding area. If not them you will get very depressed staying in this yellow, drab and faded hotel.

Nice hotel in the top of the hill
if you want to rest, this is your hotel as there is not much to do around it. It is in the top of a hill with a beautiful well preserverd church and a park.

Mixed feelings
The location is gobsmackingly beautiful with superb views of the surrounding mountains and city below and an overload of baroque architecture and biblical statues. The funicular tram is worth riding - perhaps walk down the steps and ride the tram up. The restaurant nearby has a glorious panoramic view and the food is good. However, the hotel needs investment in its staff and in its facilities. The room we had was very basic for a 4 star hotel, the bed was very hard and the linen insufficient for a hotel with these pretentions. There are no frills, which is disappointing given the palatial surroundings. With the exception of the first member of staff we met - who was very helpful - we found the remaining staff to be unresponsive and not customer orientated as you would expect from a 4 star establishment. The TV was disappointing, and the breakfast uninspiring.

Hotel located in heart of attraction
The overall experience of staying this hotel is nice. However our room is located in the end of the corridor, the wifi doesn't cover our whole room, I need to use the wifi close to the door, that is the only thing I don't happy about.

It's All About the View!
If this hotel were located in the flats, you might rate it as upgraded Best Western. The rooms are clean and adequate. The lighting in the room and bathroom could be better. But that is not why you come. You come to be at the top of the mount. You come for the panoramic view of the Church, the city lights and the Garden and Steps. Be sure to ask for a room with a view before you get there and look at your room before you start opening your suitcases. The price for the room is very moderate when you consider the location. The view from our room was spectacular even though the room was just average. We didn't have a car but that did not stop us and it shouldn't stop you. Take a cab up, it is too much of a hassle to take a bus and then the funicular that doesn't run at all hours. But once you have dropped your suitcases at your room, you can easily take the funicular and the bus down to the town. Or you can get some fairly easy exercise and walk down the hill. Because we did not have a car, we chose to eat dinner at the only restaurant in the other hotel just steps from this one. For the two nights we ate there we had a fabulous view, very good food and good service. The experience is not inexpensive, high end moderate in price. (If you want to use the pool bring a cap for fe/male or you will have to purchase one for 5 E)

Outstanding setting for a relaxing break
This hotel was everything I had hoped for: somewhere to relax and swim, and accessible from a nice town without a car. The rooms were exactly as portrayed online: large and comfortable with french windows opening onto a tiny balcony, overlooking the church, gardens and hills in the distance. The pool was nearly always quiet and kept spotlessly clean, with a view of wild flowers beside the sun deck outside. The decking, overlooking Braga, was great for relaxing after a swim late afternoon. We ate twice in the restaurant of the Hotel Elevador, just a minute's walk away. The food, wine, setting and service were fantastic (particularly the dessert buffet!). Transport services to the hotel are efficient and cheap - the water funicular runs frequently and they attempt to make connections with the bus into Braga. Taxis are also reliable and inexpensive. The only caution I would offer about this hotel is that the staff, although polite, were rather laid-back about service. There is no bar on the sun-deck, no-one staffing the small bar downstairs, and little information is forthcoming about Bom Jesus, transport, etc. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel and other options are limited - two outdoor cafes near the hotel. The setting is lovely but the service and menu aren't great at either. I would very happily stay here again. The setting is remarkable (it is a privilege to stay on this historic site) and the hotel is great value for money.

Bom Jesus - Braga beautiful location
The reason for me to choose this hotel was the location. I attended a wedding in the church next to the hotel which was perfect for both ease of access and views. i didnt try any of the food or breakfast at the hotel, anyway the bkfst was not included. there is a 24 hr service, the members if the staff are very friendly and helpful and there is a superb hidden spa and nice size indoor pool with large jacuzzi all indoors with glass doors and amazing views. the hotel is tranquil and the front side starts getting busy early in the morning when lots of visitors arrive to the church and surrounding gardens and lake. there is a cute cave and a cute coffee shop nearby where you can get a nice breakfast under the sun. the gardens and surrounding mountain seem to attract lots of families during the day and lots of couples at night. including pilgrims until late. the room was a double bed good size room and big windows facing the valley and the church large bathroom tv and wardrobe. there is laundry service, mini bar and no ironing machine. there is limited parking spaces next to the hotel. its a good location and a taxi ride is usually 5 euro to braga center. it can get tricky to drive to the hotel specially if its a foggy night since there are bendy roads but once you do the ride twice you get to find hideaways other amazing hotels nearby and the scalator or water train which takes you to the hotel for 2 euro and its a beautiful trip. love braga!
