When we arrived to OYO HOTEL, we quickly noticed that the pictures do not resemble the actually place at all. The lobby was full of several handwritten notes with threatening messages, including one mentioning an individual named “Stev-O” who could enter your room at night. We felt completely unsafe and immediately decided to leave the property and find new accommodations.
Later, we read news and reports about this place and found disturbing information: The OYO chain doesn’t seem to officially recognize the hotel, suggesting its association with OYO is a façade. The place used to be called Holly Hotel and had the same complaints. The place is also reportedly uses as a shelter for the homeless and has been reported to not even comply with basic safety regulations to be a homeless shelter!
In line with our impression that the place was unsafe, we later found reviews in other platforms that “guests” are trapped overnight in the premises because the “staff” locks the doors at night with no way to open them. Additionally, we found reports by residents from Bradford of illegal activity, including crimes in the so-called hotel’s premises.
The worst part of this story is that Expedia simply stated the reservation was not refundable and that OYO had “declined to refund” our reservation. OYO apparently must accept the refund for Expedia to process it. This is clearly not a normal situation. Do not book with OYO.
