This is an immaculate, beautifully-decorated, roomy, comfortable home with wonderful beds, plush towels, gorgeous landscaping, and artistic touches everywhere. The owners have a wooden sign on their desk that says, "We love it here," and that pretty much sums up how we felt about this place. We honestly hated to leave! The new deck has the nicest furniture, including rocking chairs, a hammock, a dining table & chairs with a sun shade over them, and two net hammock swing chairs (my favorite). We loved sitting on the deck, watching the butterflies on the flowers and the great variety of birds that came to the bird feeders. The property is nicer than the photos depict--absolutely lovely in every way. But what truly sets this rental apart is the extraordinary thoughtfulness of the hosts. When we arrived, we found a binder with helpful information and brochures on the table along with a bottle of water for each of us. We were delighted to find a bottle of muscadine wine in the fridge--what a treat! The owners had filled their bird feeders prior to our arrival for our enjoyment, and though we'd brought our own binoculars, they'd left a pair of theirs on the deck for their guests to use. They'd left a couple of new toothbrushes and small boxes of toothpaste in the bathroom--so thoughtful! All the electric switches are neatly labeled--so considerate! There are games in one of the closets for rainy days. There's a bookshelf with a note that says: "If you see a book you want to read, please feel free to take it." There's a small sewing kit in a drawer. The kitchen is so well stocked that I found I'd packed more than I'd needed to. I could go on and on and on. It's like the owners had thought of everything their guests might need. They are the most gracious hosts ever! During our short stay (4 nights), we visited Chimney Rock State Park, the Lake Lure Flowering Bridge, Linville Falls Hiking Trails (I recommend skipping the caverns and going to see the falls instead), and South Mountains State Park. The house is a bit of a drive to all of these, but we really enjoyed the spectacular scenery as we drove. I'm so grateful that we had the privilege of staying in this immaculate, beautiful home and seeing this absolutely gorgeous part of North Carolina.
