"What a gem!! Bergamo was a half-hearted, 1-day visit we added to our trip since we were flying into Milan in the evening & yet we were SO pleasantly surprised! The old town, which is walking distance from La Valleta, is beautiful with a nice handful of shops & restaurants. La Valleta is a lovely hillside Villa with a small handful of rooms & very nice & kind proprietors. But what really stands out is their breakfast! "We stayed 2 nights at this lovely hotel. Full of character, warm and cosy on chilly weekend in March. The staff were friendly and helpful and were made to feel very welcome especially by Massimo on our arrival which was quite late evening. The small town of Calolziocorte is very pleasant and the location of the hotel by the river is lovely. "Great location and in goid condition but terrible service prior to arrival - a code is required to access the property and instructions are to contact the owner at least 24 hours in advance. This is not easy as emails are ignored, phonecalls go unanswered and even hung up when you do get through. Signage from the street and within the building is also terrible. It's a real challenge getting into your room!! On top of all that, Expedia's customer service was disgraceful and i will not be using...
