Diversity
If you look for a place to really have fun with mostly young crowd, this hostel is the best so far. I wouldnt suggest for families with kids, as at night it gets loud til midnight due to (live band, DJ- music) and people mostly smoke cigarette. Staff are very nice, friendly, helpful and fun.. You will get along with the other tourist that came from different country. Meeting new friends is a 100%. They have their own activities- (haqqy boat- best experience). Decent for the price of our own room, pretty close to the beach (downside- the constructions from the alley going to the beach- the pathway needs renovation due to flood- mud- the smell) but we are not that picky so its bearable somehow. It would have been nice if they have Barbeque, grilled food and street food that they can serve in their restaurant. Other than that, our stay was good! And will definetly do referrals.

Great community vibe
Minutes from the beach! Their communal dining area is a great place to meet fellow travellers. The staff are friendly and engaging. The room is comfortable but had an odd smell that we can't quite place. Nothing too disenchanting. We felt safe staying there and there was a security guard at night. They have many activities throughout the week that bring people together from boat tours to pasta dinners. I highly recommend for travellers wanting to meet fellow travellers!

A hostel not a hotel...
I refused to check in at the hotel. Its down a dirty alley and is basically a hostel not a hotel even though hotels.com lists it as a hotel with air con.

Will come back
Excellently run place, friendly and helpful staff, good for partying and socializing Frendz is a 1min walk from either the beach or the main road. They offer many activities and have a bar perfect for meeting people. Even when staying in in the evening, i never experienced the music as annoying and it is always turned off at 11pm and people move on to one of the nearby beach bars Had planned to stay for 3 nights, stayed for a week. Will happily come again

great people great time
people who complain about hostels probably shouldnt stay at hostels.. there meant for the younger crowd who likes to party definitely not for your family and children. With that said place was great. great people breakfast was free the private rooms were plenty big with AC and a Refrigerator. You can also charge the drinks from the beach bars to your room which is very convenient.

A decent fun place to stay
I just booked one night at the Frendz Resort at the end of my stay in Boracay. Check-in was very friendly. I had a private room and it was a good size with a private bathroom. It's a cozy little "resort" for the backpacker on a budget.

nice 50 yard walk off the beach
First night they put me in the over flow room due to over booking. then the next two nights in the room I paid for. The over flow rooms are not as nice but it's about a 50 yard walk off the beach

Great Backpackers
Very fun place to stay and although it is mainly aimed at younger visitors it also caters for the older crowd. Some of the younger too cool for school hippies gave me the poo's. Sitting around trying to be a little to cool listening to Mob Marley was very cool yes! But I was doing it 25 years ago, and it is nothing new and certainly not very new or cool anymore. The staff are exceptionally polite and there to make you feel welcome and cared for.

Friendly backpacker hotel
This hotel is basic. Its overall structure is a cluster of huts in native materials. At some time it must have been charming, but maintenance has been haphazard and the general impression is of an establishment in decline. It could do with a major renovation. Rooms have a bed and fan, AC which works more-or-less, and a simple bathroom. Lighting is barely enough for reading (even in broad daylight). There is a feel of mustiness and damp. Sound insulation is absent and there is little space between the clusters. If you have inconsiderate neighbors, then you are likely to be woken during the night (in our case by heated arguments and some fairly colorful language occasionally). The hotel is located about 250 m from the sea and cool sea breezes do not penetrate beyond the fringe of densely packed (and frequently unattractively constructed) resorts, restaurants and small businesses along the seashore. Hence, in Frendz Resort, the air is still and the humidity and heat sometimes overbearing. Access to the beach is via a narrow lane between buildings. Water drips into the lane from overhead roof drains and airconditioner pipes. One establishment bordering the lane hoses out its kitchen and leaves pools of dirty water on the path. In spite of my negative comments, I would like to stress the friendliness and warmth of the family running Frendz resort. They make a lot of effort to please guests, serve great meals at reasonable cost, and provide free WiFi.

Great location - Friendly Staff
This place was a great place to stay. The bamboo huts really add to the ambiance. The staff is very friendly and very helpful. There is a common area with secured wi-fi access, a pool table, a long picnic table, a bar (where you can charge drinks to your room) and food available 24/7. Frendz is in a good location - about a 5 minute walk to the beach. Staff is available 24/7, and after midnight they lock the gate. Just ring the bell and someone will let you in. The bamboo huts are a nice touch. They are difficult to maintain, but worth the "experience". Sound does travel, so if you are traveling with a girl/boy-friend, you may be able to hear your neighbors and they may be able to hear you.. Overall it's a great place to meet other travelers, a great place to stay, friendly staff and close to the beach. Side note - avoid the island hopping tours - Take the Ariel's Point cliff diving tour - It's 1200 pesos per person, and well worth it! The staff can set it up for you.

Very Friendly at Frendz
My partner and I spent 2 weeks in the Philippines starting off in Malapascua scuba diving then we made our way to Boracay where we stayed at Frendz. The wife Rebecca was extremly friendly when we checked in - our names were on a Welcome board and they gave us a complimentary beer. We booked one of the bungalow rooms and found it to be really spacious and clean - very simple accommodation but perfect. The water was luke warm but not hot but it was hot enough for us not to mind the cooler shower. The only thing that was a bit of an annoyance was the Rooster next door that never shuts up. You get used to him and eventually you don't notice him in the morning after awhile. The staff are extremly friendly and the common area is a good place to hang out and meet everyone else. It's about a 2 min walk to the beach which is really convienient and the security is pretty good so no need to worry about that. I really recommend this place!

Frendz Hostel at Boracay - good for solos/families
I travelled solo female to Boracay and had a great experience at this hostel. The shortcomings listed in the reviews are also common at much more expensive hotels in the Philippines. Clean, fairly secure, only a minute from the beach, where the hostel has reserved access to (complete with beach chairs, cafe to provide drinks/snacks) and from the road (enough if you like to sleep). .

i was expecting a decent service from the cheap price that i paid for my stay in the beautiful island, but it was much better than i expected. me and my girlfriend got there 0730 and Reinhard greeted us with a delightful cup of capuccino, as expected our room is not yet available, but Reinhard let us use a vacant room and transfered all our stuff to our designated room once we got back from Ariel's point. the cottages are nipa hut or "bahay kubo" whiich i prefer since i am in a tropical island got some problem with the room's AC and hot shower but quickly fixed. room is cozy and you get to feel like you are indeed in a tropical island. hospitable owners like Reinhard and Rose comes great staff who took care of our needs. and to add if you are kitesurfing, Reinhard will have you rent his kite and board for half the price of the cheapest kite school in bulabog beach. but i warn you, this resort is only for the cool tourists of boracay, those who enjoy chatting and drinking "redhorse" with other backpackers, those who are crazy enough to jump at ariel's point, those who wanna chill and relax with the native ambience. just like my governor's favorite line "I'll be back." hopefully soon.

Authentic tropical island experience
We received a warm welcome by Reinhard and his family and were treated like family while we were staying at this place (4 nights). the bamboo cabins with their individual porches are authentic and unfortunately they are disappearing because they are difficult to maintain. The atmosphere was very peaceful, we met many nice travelers when sitting in the resort restaurant, the property looks like a botanical garden - you will love it. We can't wait to go back. This was the first time that we were able to received a free Wifi signal even 4 star hotels charge you for that in the Philippines and we went to 3 different Starbucks that did not have Wifi

Clean Hostel
For a 2 star property, i'm very satisfied with the amenities and serviced I received. This property is 3 minutes walk from the white sandy beach of station 1. Though the neighborhood are residential properties but still the area is safe even at night. The surrounding is quite and it provide enough time for me to rest after a long journey. If your budget is tight, then this place is for you. If you need anything, everyone in the property is willing to go the extra mile to assist you. I even chatted with the Austrian owner who's very humble and down to earth.

Frendz Resort, Boracay,- almost on the beach
A splendid small establishment, a couple of minutes from the beach. A family run business, who make sure everything is perfect for their guests. Greeted personally, and immediatly put at ease, shown to the chalet, and everything explained. Very friendly and accomodating, help and advice freely given, and they will book a trip round the island on a sailing boat, for you. I do recommend this, it is very beautiful and relaxing. Food is available at their own restraunt, and is very good, and not expensive. the chalet has a double bed, storage shelves and mirror, TV, Fan, and in our case Air Conditioning, and bathroom. This contains, WC, wash basin, and shower. All water is cold, but this is quite pleasant, due to the heat. I really enjoyed my stay here, and whole heartily recommend Frendz as the place to stay in Boracay. So good I will return.
