The Space:
Sandy Strait Shack by Tiny Away, located by the coastal locality of Booral, is a 20-minute drive from Hervey Bay. This tiny house sits in a secluded part of the property, where kangaroos roam and birds sing. Close to attractions like Reef World Aquarium, Urangan Pier, and Lake McKenzie, it offers a blend of isolation and exploration. Nearby, enjoy meals at Enzo’s on the Beach or entertainment at Hervey Bay RSL.
A comfortable, 139-square-foot accommodation is set in one of the best tiny house rentals and serene locations with abundant natural bushland, easy access to water, split air conditioning, a kitchenette, cooking equipment, and excellent bathroom facilities.
The bathroom, however, follows ecologically sustainable principles, including an eco-friendly cassette toilet with a removable waste holding tank, hand basin, and shower (gas heated for hot showers). It focuses on satisfying people's needs with natural resources and processes to save water by using eco-friendly toilets to save the environment.

Guest Access:
Guests can access the tiny house and surrounding areas. They can wander around the property as there is a communal fire pit at the back and a big beautiful dam that has turtles and looks like a lake.

Sandy Strait Shack by Tiny Away is settled by the coastal town of Booral and is just a 20-minute drive from Hervey Bay. A stay that offers convenience to coastal splendors. The region, known for its natural landscapes, sits near Fraser Island's rugged beauty and the historic Urangan Pier, inviting opportunities for deep-sea adventures and leisurely strolls by the water.
Our local recommendations:
- The Reef World Aquarium in Urangan has been a notable tourist site since 1979. This unique, all-natural aquarium, one of the few globally, uses sand-filtered seawater and natural sunlight.
- Urangan Pier is one of Australia's longest piers stretching nearly a kilometer into the ocean. Offering panoramic views, excellent fishing, and vibrant local dining and shopping, it's a hub for diverse activities including windsurfing and kite surfing.
- Lake McKenzie is a top destination for its stunning beauty. This perched lake, filled exclusively with rainwater, showcases pure white silica sand and crystal-clear water that supports minimal life. Its colors are mesmerizing, especially at dawn. The area includes excellent facilities for hikers.
Food Scene:
- Enzo’s on the Beach is where you can overlook the beautiful coast of Hervey Bay and enjoy delicious food and cocktails on a high table or relax on bean bags and day beds in the sand.
- Hervey Bay RSL is a major entertainment hub on the Fraser Coast. It features diverse amenities like restaurants, bars, a children's fun center, gaming machines, and a kids' club for those aged 3 and up, ensuring a welcoming environment for all visitors.

- Wifi is not available
- BBQ Grill is not available
- No unregistered guests or visitors are allowed
- Smoking is allowed in certain areas on the property
- Please note that pet policies will be sent prior to arrival
- Mobile reception has good signals for all telco companies
- Please expect limited connectivity as the tiny house is set in a rural locality
- Pets are not allowed on beds and sofas and clean after your pet’s droppings
- Don’t forget to close the windows and lock doors when leaving the tiny house/ property
- Please clean up after your pet’s shedding before checking out courtesy of other guests
- Make sure to turn off the lights, air conditioning, and electronics (e.g., especially chargers)
- Please note that this is a PET-FRIENDLY property, and pet policies will be sent prior to arrival
- We would like to advise guests that longer stays or later check-outs will incur an additional charge
Important note:
- Keep in mind that outdoor fire pits are not available during a total fire ban
- Due to the nature of the property, abundant wildlife may be present in the surrounding areas
- Our property is home to two playful sausage dogs and our three children. We warmly invite you to share this space and explore the surroundings of the tiny home.
- If you're traveling with kids, they'll find instant playmates here to keep them entertained for hours.
- Please note, that if you have small children, be mindful of the dam located at the back of the property.
- For stays of 5 nights or more, an additional cleaning fee will be collected to help maintain the [compost/cassette] toilets and ensure a clean and fresh experience for all guests. We appreciate your understanding.
