The property was so cool, we loved the outdoor area with the river running through it. All of the beds and linens were very comfortable. Nicely updated cabin. We will definitely stay here again!
Such a great house and location. We came up for an ASU game and had a wonderful time, wish we could have stayed longer to explore the area! Megan is a fantastic host!
We absolutely loved this little house. Perfect for 3 kids, 2 parents, and 2 grandparents. The location is so close to Boone and Banner Elk. The boulders surrounding the house and the little creek were fun to explore. We would definitely return here for our next visit!
We rolled in for some late season skiing in Sugar Mountain. The Hike was comfortable and the hosts were very welcoming. We greatly enjoyed the decor and the property is beautiful. Highly recommend and we will be back!
We just finished our 2nd stay here and we didn't want to leave. The cabin is wonderfully cozy, inviting, and always clean. I cannot say enough good things about the property and the host. Thank you!
Nice and clean
The best security of any place I’ve stayed “Ever”
Only small issue is natural steps into properly if you have a gait issue can require caution with luggage
If you are able bodied however this is your place !!
We loved our stay! The cabin was so peaceful. Our favorite spot was the back deck, which easily accommodated the 6 kids and 2 adults on our trip. The kids had endless entertainment in the creek and everyone slept like logs. Very comfortable beds and a great kitchen. We were happy mommas!
We visit the Boone area regularly and have stayed in a few homes in Hound Ears. This was one of our favorites! The house was cute, cozy, tastefully renovated. Loved the outdoor space! Megan the owner was quick to respond to any and all questions and had wonderful recommendations for places to see and visit in the area. We hope to be back soon!
Beautifully updated and comfortable property with nice outdoor area.
Our family visits the area every fall and have stayed in a number of similar houses in Hounds Ears. This property has been the best one so far! The house is beautifully updated and has a well equipped kitchen. We enjoyed the comfortable king sized bed and the kids enjoyed their own rooms and bathroom upstairs. The outside has plenty of seating on the new deck and a fire pit, as well as access to the creek. We enjoyed the games and jigsaw puzzles as well! Parking was very easy, we fit an SUV and minivan without a problem. Thank you for a relaxing weekend away!
My husband and I took our two young kids (6,4) snow tubing at hawks nest and to blowing rock for a long weekend. Location was great, especially to hawksnest and grandfather vineyard, which we all loved. We absolutely loved our stay here. The kids loved the kids room with the loft and wanted to live there forever. My husband and I enjoyed the nice fireplace in the den while they played up there. We all had so much fun on the rocks and swing and waterfall in the back of the house as well. I think this feature truly sets this property apart from others we considered. We would love to come back and stay at this fun house for another weekend! Megan was super responsive to every question as well.
We've stayed in a lot of VRBOs and this was our favorite! The cabin was adorable - great updates, comfortable furniture, well stocked, and a lot of charm. My girls loved their room with the single beds and loft, and my son enjoyed having his own room with a king size bed. I usually bring toys but tried to keep it simple, but we wouldn't have needed them! There were games, puzzles, and wooden blocks. We also loved the outdoor area with the boulders, stream, deck, and paths around the property. We would've spent a lot more time there if it hadn't been winter. The cabin was conveniently located. And the host reached out to make sure we had everything we needed and provided great tips for activities in the area. This is definitely a place we'd stay again.
My family, a total of 7 people, enjoyed our stay at Boulder Bend. We are already looking into rebooking next winter. The location is fantastic to all of the nearby towns. The neighborhood is beautiful, unique and gated. However, you still feel secluded. The backyard is amazing with the creek running through, chairs, swing, fire pit, grill, and boulders to climb on. Our children loved exploring out back. We felt safe allowing our 6 and 7 year old outside exploring while we watched from the porch. The house was quaint and is fully stocked with anything you need. Megan is a wonderful host! Great communication and recommendations. We woke up to a light dusting of snow one morning and it was lovely to sit in the family room watching it fall with the gas fire place on (the fireplace did give off heat on the lower level). Our children loved their room and loft. One of the best places we’ve stayed at! A very homey feel. Thank you, Megan, for a wonderful stay. We hope to stay again next year!
Loved the setting, like you are in the middle of the woods. Outdoor space is great (when the weather cooperated), the brook in the back yard is soothing and refreshing. Loved the swing that hangs from the deck. The interior accommodated all of us comfortably, even for a dinner party of 11 (we had to all be indoors due to the rain). Interior layout was very nice, kitchen was open and stocked but could be better organized and stoked with updated/newer items. Steps to the loft were a bit of a challenge for us 55+'s, but manageable. Had some issues with the fireplace and the host was helpful, but we just couldn't get it to work. My college graduates really enjoyed the puzzles and they put the wooden one together and the other large one, but it was missing one piece! Hosts were always available and willing to answer my many questions.
Just a warm comfortable environment. We will definitely be back. Thank you!!!

Misleading and musty at a minimum
I've traveled a lot over my career, from dive hotels and quaint B&Bs, to the JW, as well as many vacation rentals.
The pictures looked great. It was everything we thought we needed. But upon walking in, this place STUNK. Literally. It smelled musty at a minimum, and moldy for those that may be sensitive. This was a huge red flag for our daughter's health, as she's sensitive to mold.
The steps were really steep, but I didn't see that until the check in instructions. You have to watch your step, and those steps are gross. Stained carpet throughout upstairs. Upon checking the mattresses (necessary for traveling), they were stained and not protected at all. The host should invest in mattress protectors as well as encasement. Also, bedding with stains should be replaced.
The kitchen is redone, and looks nice. The primary bath is also nice.
We immediately contacted the host, and she was kind enough to refund us so we could find somewhere else to stay. She gets 5 stars for communication.
You may also want to note that she charges a security *DEPOSIT* rather than a security hold, as most hosts charge holds.
This place could be a real gem with new bedding, mattress protection, clean carpets, and mold/mildew remediation.
We loved everything about this place. It is on the most beautiful spot with a small creek running behind it. The deck and outdoor seating areas expand the home. The house itself fit our six perfectly, and the living room was cozy with tons of games and puzzles. We hope to come back again!
