PRIVATE, REMOTE, SECLUDED COUNTRY HOMESTEAD PETS WELCOME! - BOOLEROO CENTRE

Callum - Brae is an old Country Homestead situated amongst native shrubs and trees just a few hundred meters from Booleroo Creek. The home is private and secluded, ideal for a relaxing and quiet stay 3 hours drive north of Adelaide. With 4 bedroooms, ideal for a "Mates Getaway" or a "Girls Weekend" or maybe 2 families who enjoy to relax together. Couples will be spoiled with the big old homestead all to themselves. The property has lots of old barns and treasures from years past, ideal for photography, drawing or just a walk in natural bushland. For the cooler nights and mornings the firepit to the front of the house has lots of room for everyone to gather around for warmth. There's also an outside burner and grill plate with plenty of fallen wood for the fire. The back yard is an ideal space for a hit of cricket, with table, chairs, gas barbeque and stunning views of Mt Robert. Just a short walk will lead you to the creek bed, a really pretty area with Kangaroos, Lizards and Birds abundant. Further on you will see "The Pot Creature" hanging out on the road corner and old history spots with signs and intersting facts....like "The Town That Never Was". Time to get away from IT, computers, phones?? Then Callum-Brae will be perfect for you to stay, explore, calm down, regenerate. Day trips to Port Germein, Quorn, Alligator Gorge, Willmington, Melrose, Wilpena Pound. So much to do. Its our pleasure to welcome you! Please kindly bring your own bed sheets and bath towels. YOUR HOUNDS ARE WELCOME TO STAY AT CALLUM BRAE. If your best friend is your dog or is the extended family member, bring them along, they are welcome too!

Not as described, did not complete our stay!
Apon arrival the key was not where it was described to be. We called the host via contact details on the itinerary and app. She advised us she has nothing to do with the property since moving on earlier this year? We found the key in the front door. We then tried to contact Ross “the current owner” about the no bedding however no response. We then contacted the same lady who is listed as the “host” as we couldn’t find a contact detail for Vrbo. Listed is a few issues as to why we did not complete our stay and found alternative accommodation; TERMITES PRESENT Two crusty towels. (For 3 guest 1 child) Lights need replacing No Bedding (few static blankets and crusty sheets in the cupboard) Key not in described location Poor to no Communication Trail of blood? No wifi (as listed) No phone reception Ross eventually called us back later the next day but it was a chase of phone tag. We are now in the long process of a refund with the help of vrbo.

Mixed feelings
It’s in a lovely spot but sadly the general air is one of neglect and abandonment. We were grateful for the abundant firewood to keep the kitchen toasty but less happy with the multitude rodent baits scattered about the place. That said, the mouse-nibbled soap was not attractive, so while I understand the need for pest control there’s probably a safer way to manage the poisons. Future guests will benefit if the present saucepans are replaced (well-worn “non-stick” coatings are not safe to cook in) as well as the mattress I “slept” on, which seemed to be composed only of tangled wires. It might also be a good idea to conduct paddock spraying on days when guests are not in residence. Many folk (myself included) are uncomfortable about inhaling unknown vapours. On the bright side the night skies were exquisite.

Great family weekend getaway, old style farm house with character. Clean, comfortable.
A real step back in time, old farm house with history and character, great views of pastoral land. The old farm building of a time gone by, must have been a hive of activity back in it’s hay day. Limited phone coverage but not an issue, good to get away from the hustle and bustle. Recommend it , it’s not the flashiest, but it was basic and very cool. We as a family had a great time together. It’s retro. A time capsule. Clean tidy and value for money, An old school adventure , we would book this accommodation again no issues

Beautiful Country house with amazing set up
My children and I loved our stay here. The house felt like home and had all the conveniences I needed. The washing machine was awesome to have especially after one of my children had a vomiting attack during the night. It was so great to have the washing machine there to keep our clothes clean during our stay. The property although remote was beautiful with spectacular views and so comfortable. The room my kids had to play was fantastic and we all enjoyed exploring the beautiful old buildings around the house. Very happy was lovely to have the fire in the kitchen set and ready to go when we arrived I just had to put a match into it.

Peaceful place to stay, very quiet and close to Sightseeing the flinders ranges
It had everything needed for cooking. Lovely old buildings to wander around and look at. Was a bit cold for winter stays with the toilet and bathroom outside, but inside the home with kitchen fire roaring and closing off bedrooms was able to keep warm when relaxing on front of tv. Be nicer in the warmer months.

Amazing vibes all round.
We planned our trip around the meteor shower, and we were blessed with having one clear night to watch the sky and it was incredible. This place has a stunning view of the sunrise over Mt Robert. The rustic homestead is fully of country charm, with plenty of space. There’s enough reception for emergencies, but not enough to be glued to the phone. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful home with us. Can’t wait to return!
