I travel constantly and 90% of my trips, I stay at VRBO properties. After making my reservation, I attempted contacting the owner and after three attempts to email (the only method of communication available), I still heard nothing back. It wasn’t until the day before my arrival did someone contact me, which by that time I was making back up plans in case I showed up and still received no instructions.
Once I arrived, I discovered that the apartment given to me wasn’t at all what I reserved. With confirmations and screenshots, I texted the manager and she stated that unfortunately all the other apartments were occupied. I was vastly disappointed. I was issued a bit of a refund, which is a start, but at the end of the day there was a huge collapse in communication between VRBO and the property, or within the property management itself.
The air conditioner had a pungent odour coming from it, to the point to where after a while, I became numb to it, but every time I entered the apartment it was as though I ran into a brick wall of strong odour. I did ask for an air freshener but that only made the smell an interesting blend of death and vanilla.
The bed was quite comfortable and the apartment was quiet, which I both appreciated, and the location was convenient. Had I known I wasn’t going to stay in the apartment I booked, I would have booked elsewhere.
The manager made every effort to ensure my comfort and I’m grateful but all in all I’d give it a 5/10.
