Looking to slow down? There is no better place than Lake Huron and our Bluewater Sunset Cottage has a sparkling view of the water. Enveloped by full, large trees our cottage is an ideal year-round getaway for large families. From fall to spring, it is also the model host for yoga and team-building retreats.

Go for a round of golf, or a bite to eat, at the White Squirrel Golf Club across the road. Later, BBQ in the spacious backyard and take a short 10-min drive to shop at Bayfield's Main Street or explore Grand Bend. Whether you're here to whisk the family away for a summer holiday, or inspire your team before a big deadline, or meditate in a calm environment—Bluewater Sunset Cottage is the place for groups to reset, reflect, & recharge.

Enter through the front door, and you'll find comfy seating to lounge in—perfect for brainstorming sessions and movie nights on the Smart TV. You'll also find…

A large dining table for big dinners, unintentionally intense board games, and cards

NOTE: Approx 80 stairs down to the beach. 2024 there is still a little beach. There is a sea wall here and there will be beach on the wall. The lakebed can be sandy or stoney depending on what the lake gives you that day. But it sure is fun to try to find the ever changing sandbars. Generally you will find sand 3ft out. It's fun to go stone collecting - Lake Huron is a geologists paradise! Just bring some water shoes. The nice thing is, it's not weedy or slimy at all.

Max 1 Dog is Allowed

Linens are available for $20/per person. This includes Tea Towels, Dishcloths, Sheets & Pillowcases, Bathroom towels, Hand towels and Face cloths. Does not include Beach Towels.

NOTE: Primary renter must be 25 yrs old and provide government issued photo id. A separate security deposit of $500 is required.
All Guests are required to sign a separate cottage rental agreement. Including names and ages of all guests who will occupy the property. This property is equipped with a monitoring device (including noise, temp & wifi connections) there are two cameras outside monitoring the parking area and entrance door

Several weeks later, the snow starts to fall and guests can enjoy the quiet of winter and crunch through the snow in evergreen forests or try out the snowshoe trails on the river flats. Or go skating at Dark Horse Winery.

You're just 1 minute from White Squirrel Golf Club with winter hiking trails and winter golf for those die-hard links lovers. Explore downtown Bayfield, just two minutes away, browsing the unique boutiques and stopping for a hot coffee at one of the quaint cafes. We're happy to suggest our favorite local spas, wineries and breweries, including Dark Horse Estate Winery with a tasting room. If you prefer hops over vines, Bayfield River Road Brewing has an outdoor tasting room to enjoy the craft brews.

Great cottage, great location. Water is gorgeous! Only downfall is 80 steps to the beach and then metal ladder to access beach. Harder access for grand parents and large dogs. Otherwise everything is perfect!

Another fine stay!
A second time back to Bluewater Sunset and we had another wonderful stay. The cottage has everything you would want for a fun getaway! We love the big living room area with space for everyone and the huge dining table with plenty of room for everyone to eat or play games. The kitchen is spacious enough to make turkey dinner for a crowd! If I had to make a suggestion for improving our stay, we did find the beds quite firm and a little creaky as you move around. A small upgrade in this area would be appreciated. We did love the big new deck built our back and the steps that allow you to easily access the beach. We will be back!

It’s a nice place with a great view of the lake, a great little sand beach, and a large property. The cottage is large and was room for all although a couple of the bedrooms were very cramped. We had a great time!

A great cottage overall
The cottage did not disappoint. It came as described. It was spacious, clean, and well appointed with all the furnishings and kitchen supplies one would need. Plenty of seating options inside and out, lots of lawn space for games, fires, and lounging; and of course the beach was beautiful with plenty of sand and a sand bar that was an accessible distance for children who swim well. An excellent choice overall.

Great Lake Huron Vista!
We loved the deck to sit out and enjoy the property! The private beach is a real plus! Spectacular sunsets! You just need to be able to walk down 80+ steps and climb down a steel ladder to get to the beach. If you are young or old this could be a challenge. We had hoped to have an outdoor fire but the fire pit was full of ash and with the current fires across the province we didn’t feel comfortable at this time. The kitchen is well appointed so you don’t have to bring anything. Good wifi! Close to Grand Bend for easy in and out and a lovely quiet neighbourhood.

Loved our stay!
We had a wonderful stay at Bluewater Sunset cottage! The cottage is everything we were hoping it would be, spacious, well laid out, comfortable. The property is very large, and we imagined all the things we could have done out there, had the weather been more accommodating! 😉 The steps down to the beach seemed almost new, and the sunset was stunning! The beach was lovely, lots of sand. Beds were comfy, lots of bathrooms, big table for family meals and games. When I let our host know that the can opener and cork screw were broken, we had brand new replacements within a few hours. The only negative things were just very minor, and not enough to take away from the five stars. The cottage is in the need of some minor repairs (closet doors not hung, loose screws on towel rods, windows that don’t open, screen on sliding door off), but none of this was enough to mar our lovely time at the cottage.

Great Location! Great Spot for Family Time
We have just returned home from a stay at the Bluewater Sunset Cottage (5 adults /including a 92-year-old, and one dog) The cottage was clean and welcoming when we arrived. Entry instructions were clearly provided and we were very excited to arrive and enter! A welcome gift of a specialty coffee for us, and doggie treats for our dog were waiting for us! The cottage is well appointed with room to spread out indoors, and outside! The main living room is comfortable with a large-screen tv. There are two steps from the living room, to the bedrooms, kitchen, and dining room. The four bedrooms(two on the main floor, two downstairs) were all comfortable and clean. The one smaller bedroom on the main floor had two twin beds, with about 6 inches between them so things were tight but workable. The kitchen, while small, had everything we needed for our stay. The large dining room table was a great spot for shared meals at one end, and a jigsaw puzzle at the other end. The outdoors /backyard is huge... in order to get to the beach area, there are a lot of steps, but worth it if you make the effort. We did go up and down several times to explore the beach and collect stones! The backyard has several areas to enjoy and is a wonderful spot to relax with a book and listen to the birds. Bluewater Sunset Cottage is a very comfortable place, and in a great location - close to both Grand Bend and Bayfield/ Goderich... The team at Cottage Stays is so helpful---we really appreciated Jennifer's quick responses to questions and requests! This is a place we'll recommend to friends and family! :)

Pleasant experience
Probably one of the better cottages I've stayed at over the past few years. The beach is right next to the house as advertised and the lake is fun to swim at due to it being wavy. My only critique is the access to the beach is a bit tricky because it requires you to climb down a ladder.

Great Holiday
Lots of room for a group of 8 seniors. Dinning table (seats 10) was perfect for us to enjoy our meals, games, and cards. Lots of seating in the living room. Stunning View , Amazing Experience at BlueWater Cottage
We saw the pictures and were really impressed by the view and finally decided to book the cottage for our stay. Once we reached there we were glad to see that everything was neat and clean and maintained properly. What was promised to us was all there and we had a perfect vacation with the kids. The property has a huge backyard for kids to play around, it also had a firepit and Barbeque. The best part was the stairs at the backyard which leads to a breath taking view. Sitting on the stairs and enjoying the sunset is priceless. Overall a very good experience with our stay in a wonderful cottage.

Great Cottage, near lake
Bluewater Sunset Cottage was a great experience. Spacious backyard and living room. Kitchen is well equipped. Jennifer is a great host and responds in a reasonable time. Some of the mattresses in basement bedroom and single bed room are uncomfortable. Check in is after 4 and check out is 10 which isn't ideal but not a big issue. Would recommend to anyone. Overall, a great location, spacious and a comfortable and fairly private cottage experience.
The cottage is located close to Grand Bend, Bayfield and all amenities of the area. The cottage is large and comfortable with plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms. Did not feel cramped at all. Many outdoor areas to use (deck, lawn, fire area, "beach" above the water). The property itself is large, shaded and landscaped for moderate to good privacy. Excellent big screen smart TV, central vacuum was handy and kitchen appliances worked well.

Great Getaway
This cottage and the surrounding area is Beautiful. There was everything you needed and then some. If you are looking for a quit place with beautiful views, this is where you need to stay. We loved having the 2 Fireplaces, huge Kitchen and comfy living room, with Huge TV. If you are bringing friends and or Family, there is tons of room, with 4 bedrooms and 3 Bathrooms, lots of storage area and huge Dinning room table/with fireplace. The outdoor area was awesome, with large BBQ and extra propane in the shed (we had to look for it), Great Sunsets and access to the Beach. It was everything thing we expected and more.. Hope to stay again soon...
