overall good experience, nice staff, decent food. Waitresses in casino weren't that friendly, we waited for over 30 minutes for her to come back to get our check. but overall it was a good hotel and room

"Beautiful place! Lots of history. Lounge open Thursday-Sunday, but staff allowed us to enjoy a bottle of wine by the great fireplace. Lots of wood and leather. Close to several restaurants if you arrive during the week. Hours change seasonally. Loved our stay."

Yeah, so don't go looking for the Lake. Because there isn't one. It got that name because it used to flood in that area centuries ago. Arcata is a 10 minute drive and theviews of the mountain are very pretty.
