Team Retreat

For the second time, our work team and spouses spent a few days together at this wonderful property for our annual team retreat. We’ve stayed at a few other places, but this one seems to be our favorite! The ease of working with the owners, the quiet location, the stunning views, and the wonderful home are the perfect combination! We can’t say enough great things about this place! I’m certain we will return.

Fabulous Family Thanksgiving

We enjoyed our stay at The Blanco Valley Lodge. From the beginning of the booking process through our checkout, everything was seamless. Laura was always responsive and went the extra mile to answer our requests, she also checked on us via text during our stay to see if we needed anything. Great property and amenities are all top quality. No skimping on costs by owner. Amazing beds and linens. Top to bottom everything was great. We went when the Blanco River was a bit low because of drought. We plan to visit again.

Beautiful house and great experience

Celebrated my 30th birthday here with some friends and we had an amazing time. The beds were very comfortable, the amenities were great and overall everything was lovely. My boyfriend ended up proposing in front of the river which made for a beautiful setting! Thank you so much for having us. Would definitely book again!

Amazing Property for Large Group

We held a large family reunion at the property. The house/guest house combo was absolutely perfect for what we needed. Lack of water in the river made us so happy we had a place with a great pool. Kitchen and eating area are definitely highlights. Plenty of space for up to 30 people to relax and take in the Texas hill country. Communication from the owner was timely and helpful throughout. Would definitely come back here.

Perfect family reunion gathering spot!

Blanco Valley Lodge was the perfect location and set up for our family reunion! It had an ideal layout of bedrooms/beds/baths to host several families and offered enough privacy and space for the weekend. The beds/linens are high quality, and we found the entire home thoughtfully decorated and stocked with what we needed. The property is private, yet conveniently located in the middle of several towns to get out for some local adventures. We found it is easy to communicate with the property owner to answer any questions. We will definitely find a reason to come back!

Awesome Texas Hill Country Getaway for Groups

We had a group of 5 families stay at Blanco Valley Lodge for a summer-time long weekend. The house is huge and in great shape. There were plenty of rooms and bathrooms as well as ample kitchen and dining space and lots of fun things to do (swim, shuffleboard, pool table, ping pong). The only downside was that the river was dry (as of June 2023), but it’s still a lovely spot with pretty views. I would also note that the swimming pool is fairly deep (I would estimate it’s at least 4 feet deep at the shallow end, and most of the pool is 5-7 feet deep, so might not be ideal for smaller children/people who aren’t strong swimmers.) We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Excellent Hill Country Family Getaway

The pictures do not do this place justice. The property is immaculate, and the views are amazing. Perfect retreat for large groups. Kitchen and dining have everything imaginable for entertaining. High quality bedding, pillows, and blankets in the sleeping areas. Pool, hot tub, indoor and outdoor games. Fire pits. They have thought of everything for your large group. Amazing. Great communication from the owners, as well. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Paradise in the Blanco

This property is hands-down the BEST place for a large group. We had six families during our visit. The main house is so spacious, it felt like we were at a private resort. The pool and hot tub are exquisite. The deer arrive at dinnertime each night on cue. The playground was a hit. The gameroom and bunk room were the perfect place for the kids to relax and get away from the parents. The kitchen is equipped to feed an army. And the ice machine is just the icing on the cake. We had so much fun, I'd go back in a heartbeat. Thank you!!!!

Host was great, Vrbo needs improvement !

The Host Laura and David were great and communicated with us several times. Beautiful property and well kept. I was disappointed with my communication with Vrbo, no response e-mail wise or telephone wise. The host came to in to save the day. Vrbo in my opinion can certainly stand some improvement in their operations ! HE

wonderful outdoors

We had a wonderful stay here for our daughter's wedding that was held at nearby Camp Lucy. This property backs onto the river with wonderful outdoor seating, eating and recreation.The large kitchen and game room were perfect for hosting our large family. Unfortunately, one of the freezers was broken. The owner sent someone over immediately and then when it couldn't be fixed, offered to replace it the next day! Unfortunately, the dryer was also broken but we didn't need it until the end of our stay. Possibly need a little more attention to appliances before a large group comes to stay but otherwise we had a wonderful time.

Christmas Memories

My family quit exchanging Christmas gifts years ago, opting instead to go somewhere together and make memories. We rented The Blanco Family Lodge and we couldn’t have been more pleased. There were 20 of us and the house was large enough we didn’t get underfoot of the others. The kitchen was amazing and had two of every appliance. All 20 of us could sit at one of the tables in the dining room. The home had a wonderful game room which helped to keep us entertained. We played games, had some great meals and made more memories. Thanks BFL for everything!

Oasis

Property and location was perfect for my son's wedding and family gathering for it. The house was like an Oasis and was happy to share the experience with my family. There were a few pots and pans that needed updating, but overall, kitchen was well stocked for a large size family gathering. Owners were awesome to deal with and very accommodating. If we raised an issue (i.e. broken coffee machine), they responded expeditiously so as not to burden the family. Wish it was warmer for us to enjoy the pool, but there were plenty of other things to do for the whole family regardless (gameroom, hot tub, etc.). Bedsheets were one of the most soft and comfortable that I've ever slept in. They did not skimp on what's important.....a good night's rest while on vacation. Highly recommend renting this Oasis!!

Dishonest

Please take pictures of the home upon arrival and check out. We were accused of damage to the pool and charged an extra pet fee two weeks after check out, aside the pet fee already paid stating the birds left a mess. Laura verbally agreed to the additional birds. Laura never mentioned an issue with the birds at the time of check out. She did reach out to me via text to advise there was rust stains at the bottom of the pool and asked if we knew. However, no mention of issues with the birds at the time of check out and or the two weeks following check out. No pictures were provided by Laura of the mess she stated her cleaning lady advised her of. False statement, not enough characters in this review to provide the full story. Caught Laura lying (all on email) as to the cleaning lady not knowing there was birds in the home and called her and stated there was bird poop and feathers everywhere. The cleaning lady was present when I was checking out and loading my two birds in the vehicle. 5 people present that can attest to that and the fact that no mess was left behind as stated. Her response, call my husband to further discuss your birds. If this was an issue it should have been addressed at the time she text with regard to the pool. Please be aware there are scorpions in the home, we killed 3 and the jacuzzi had ants. When addressed I was dismissed and advised it was our fault as we left the hot tub lid open and no one ever complained of scorpions.

Don't Book - Save It For Us!!! :)

My husband and I have rented many VRBO homes for family vacations with our three grown sons and their families (kids ages 6 months to 14 years of age). So there are 15 of us total. Blanco Valley Lodge was absolutely perfect! The attached 2 bedroom cottage worked great for the family with the infant! Plenty of bedrooms for all of the others - and the master suite was enormous and so impressive! The photos don't even come close to how nice the home actually is in person! The kitchen, with 2 ranges, both with 5 burners and double ovens, were fantastic for our group! My favorite was the commercial grade double door refrigerator that made it so easy to store everything including big veggie trays! The separate ice machine was a dream to have handy! I love the idea of not having to use paper plates all the time - there were enough dishes (non-breakable) and plenty of silverware so that was never an issue! Plus having 2 dishwashers was great!! Every kitchen gadget/utensil you can think of - was available including crock pot, toaster, coffee grinder, mixer, Mr. Coffee and a Keurig - just to name a few. The dining area has 2 HUGE tables - we used one table for dining and other was set up constantly for puzzles, games, computers (some of us still had to work!) and crafts. The little ones LOVED the small table that came with crayons. We brought a roll of brown flooring paper and used it to cover the small table and the kids loved going back to add to their drawings! The yard was pristine, beautifully groomed, no trash, extra clean! The walk to the river was so quick and that was probably our favorite part! There is a little water rapid that even the 4 year old loved going through! Shallow enough to be fun! Be sure and bring water shoes! The sand and rocks can get hot quickly! The pool and hot tub were great! A grill and a smoker were useful too! The only thing we would change - would be the name on the deed! :).

Beautiful Property with poor management and hidden issues

The property is beautiful and clean. However, there are a few major issues that you need to be aware of before booking the place. Here is my own experience that I like to share. 1. The owner/manager of the property is terrible at communication. If you send a message, most likely you don't receive any reply within 24 hours, then when you send a few reminders, you eventually receive a reply with the answer to half of your questions and refer to their website which does not work. Phone calls and text messages, you may get a reply or not, you never know. 2. The property is advertised to have enough sleeping space for 30 people. Do not count on that for 30 adults. Some of the beds advertised as twin/single beds are actually day-bed or sofas that can barely fit a child. It would probably fit up to 20 adults. 3. The wifi is not usable. It is super slow and the coverage area is very limited. It won't work for any type of online meeting or video call or anything else. Cell services are also not that good in that area. So don't count on using your cell phone data either. Think about it as if you went camping :D 4. The owner/manager will send you a mandatory contract and waivers for each guest to sign a day before you suppose to get the code to the property. If you don't agree with any part of that contract and don't sign the contract, you won't receive the gate code and if you like to cancel your reservation, you can but there is no refund because you are out of the refund period (Sneaky). I don't think it is legal but anyway. 5. In that contract, if you signed, there is a security deposit and the owner/manager would charge your card in a file in case of any damage. This is all understandable, however, there is no insurance option for you and if there is any damage, the owner/manager would charge you as much as she likes. My personal experience is quite unfair. All and all, the property is beautiful and we had a good time there but I won't go back there for sure. Had I known these issues, I wouldn't book it in the first place. If you are thinking about reserving the place, be aware of these points

Perfect, Perfect, Perfect

PERFECT property for our team offsite. The home and casita are well stocked with just about anything you can think of needing. The dining area was spacious and ideal for our indoor activities. The property is very large with the Blanco river running past it. The pool, hot tub, fire pits, game room--all great hits with our team. Massive double freezer, large fridge and an ICE MAKER! The owners are VERY helpful and communication was excellent. The PERFECT place for a team offsite, family reunion, country wedding or simply a gathering of friends. I cannot emphasize enough the great experience we had at the Blanco Valley Lodge.
