"reading reviews talked about the smell. It's an old wood smell, I have smelt it before in other old wood(inside) places. The jet tub was WAY big and great. Water was very hot, fridge froze food, no microwave in room. Room was large enough you could of had others sleeping on like a pull out couch. I loved that. It needs a lot of upgrades since things are ageing in the room (pealing wall paper) but otherwise I will go again. The person that checked us in was very friendly and answered our questions about the air plane in the yard like he couldn't wait to tell you, so it was nice. Not far from house on the rock which is where we went and also not far from an amazing BBQ place called Bobs Bitchen' BBQ! There are other places, McD, Subway and so forth. Try this place out! "

A Little Bit of ShangriLa for those who love being away from it all...

"This is our third stay at Phyllis's little slice of heaven. I will not reinvent the wheel by repeating words from our former visit reviews, but I will say that for anyone who loves staying in a well furnished (historical) home with super comfy beds and a well equipped kitchen -- while still being able to bring your four legged friend and still get away from it all -- this is your place.It is certainly our ShangriLa, and we love that Phyllis provides access to such a wonderful dog-friendly home to get away from it all!!"

Silver Birch Retreat. Spacious, pet friendly country home

A perfect place to stay!

"The property was just as pictured, and the home was very clean and spacious. All beds were comfortable and plenty of linens were provided too. The kitchen had everything we needed and more. The host was thoughtful and even provided charcoal to grill and wood for a campfire. The large yard was fun to run & play and ideal for an Easter egg hunt. The location is great with larger cities of Lancaster, Mineral Point, and Platteville each about 20 minutes away and local gas stations are close by for last minute wants. Lastly, the host was very kind, responsive, and welcoming. We definitely felt at home. Thank you!"

Cozy

"We enjoyed this cozy cottage for one evening. The cottage was equipped with everything we needed, fireplace, TV, comfortable bed, and stocked kitchen. Check in and out was easy thanks to the communication with the property owners. We enjoyed a local burger at Cow Tippers Pub, a delicious coffee from Wild Blue Yonder Coffeehouse. We would stay here again. "
