The chalet on high meadows - hear the silence

The Chalet on High Meadows is an artistically designed European-styled Chalet nestled in a high meadow of the Black Hills in western South Dakota. This vacation rental chalet graces a peaceful meadow and overlooks the Black Hills National Forest and is approximately 10 miles NW of Rapid City. It is conveniently positioned to the west of I-90 between Rapid City and Sturgis, SD on a well maintained county road. The easy access allows visitors to enjoy top events and attractions yet experience the quiet of the natural setting.

Enjoy the openness of the floor plan, the closeness to nature and the simple beauty that surrounds The Chalet. Features include: One full bathroom on the main floor, fully-equipped kitchen, dining room, living room, two bedroom areas with queen-sized beds (one queen bed and a single bed upstairs in the loft; and, one queen bed downstairs near bathroom) as well as a sofa sleeper, all comfortably appointed beneath a lofted, knotty pine cathedral ceiling. Outdoors features include: Gas grill, private tennis court, gazebo, deck.

Activities include: tennis, bike riding, hiking, birding, fishing in area lakes or streams, skiing at nearby downhill ski resorts or cross-country skiing, golfing, variety of restaurants and various tourist attractions. Come stay at The Chalet and play tennis on The Chalet's private tennis court. August 2022 Pro Track and Tennis, Inc. out of Omaha, NE completely reconditioned the tennis court. The court is designed to meet the International Tennis Federation (ITF) tennis' global governing body specifications.

Coronavirus changed all of our lives. We are following the VRBO Host standards:
1) Contactless Check-in/Check-out: we allow you to check-in and check-out without any personal contact with us. We will text or call you with specific instructions;
2) Shoes must be taken off at the door and not worn inside.
3) Light Housekeeping: we will leave cleaning supplies in the bathroom and kitchen for you to use as per VRBO specifications. Guests are to provide some light housekeeping prior to checking out as per VRBO guidelines. We will leave a copy of the guidelines for you in the house book. We ask guests to leave The Chalet clean and tidy.
4) Buffers: we are attempting to leave a buffer between each set of guests checking in at The Chalet.
5) Hot Tub: we are happy to provide the hot tub to our guests as best as we can this season. Please contact us if you wish to use the hot tub. Any public health and safety conditions that change due to unforeseen events (Covid-19 Virus Mutations), CDC guidelines will be followed.
6) Extra attention to cleanliness.

Great Time
We had a great time at The Chalet. This was our first time in South Dakota and we loved it. The Chalet was nicely situated between all the places we wanted to visit and we loved coming back to a peaceful getaway to relax in the evenings. It was the perfect place all around.

The Chalet on High Meadows was everything we wanted for our vacation - a beautifully decorated and clean space with plenty of room for the two of us, privacy, and lovely outdoor areas to enjoy. Communication with Becci was quick and easy and the location was perfect - off the beaten path but central to everything. We highly recommend this property!

Chalet in the Black Hills
We had a great stay with Becci and Colin at their Chalet. Property was as advertised and we enjoyed using the hot tub and tennis court. Beds were super comfy and we had all we needed in the kitchen to prepare breakfasts and lunches after a quick trip to grocery store. We enjoyed takeout for dinner from Neighbors Grub and Pub and had a great steak meal at Dakotas Steak House. We loved the nature all around and the great selection of books on property. It was a good central location from which to visit Mt. Rushmore, the Badlands, and Deadwood/Lead. Would recommend an all wheel drive for trip up hill to property. Thanks for a terrific time!

Wonderful Little Getaway!
My wife and I rented the chalet for our vacation to the Black Hills area. The property owners were very attentive without being intrusive. While being in a neighborhood of sorts, the chalet itself feels secluded. It's very quiet and cozy. The location made for an excellent central location for our travels to the Black Hills, the Badlands, Devil's Tower, and other local activities.

GREAT R & R Location
We enjoyed our stay at The Chalet! The area is peaceful and a great place to relax after visiting areas like Deadwood, Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Custer State Park and Bear Country USA. Convenient restaurants we recommend, Tally’s Silver Spoon, JR’s Rhodehouse BBQ Pit, Bokujo Ramen and Delmonico Steakhouse. The property has all the essentials you will need for a comfortable stay. You couldn’t ask for a better host than Becci and Colin.

Beautiful place
The fall is beautiful in the Black Hills. The Chalet is just as beautiful. Clean and homey, everything you ever need during your stay. The bed was very comfortable the bathroom spacious. Plenty of hot water. The deer and turkeys in the yard were a wonderful surprise.

Beautiful little A frame chalet in the Black Hills next to the forest in a very quiet wide open development..lots of privacy, sits below the development area and overlooks the forest. 15 minutes from Rapid City and hiking trails nearby.

Family vacation
The Chalet is in a beautiful, quiet location but still close enough to Rapid City. It’s decorated very beautifully and it’s quite comfortable. It also has a hot tub and tennis court which belongs to the property so we didn’t have to share it. There is a beautiful hiking trail within walking distance that leads into the forest. Staying here was perfect, my family absolutely loved it! Thank you.

Adorable house in a beautiful setting.
Our family of four had a wonderful time. The house is beautiful and the yard is amazing. We loved playing tennis, biking, hiking on the nearby trails, and using the hot tub. We also enjoyed just sitting outside in the gazebo looking at the beautiful yard. Becci was a delightful host and the kitchen was well stocked. If we are ever in the area again, we would definitely stay here again.
