"Just a quick one night break but we had a great time - our room was large with a lovely sea view and a very comfortable bed. A very short walk to the beach for a stunning sunset. There was an issue with the gas supply so the menu was limited but all the food we had for dinner and breakfast was excellent and the cellar bar with log-burner really cosy (Inches cider on draft). Fresh milk in a fridge on the landing was a great idea for making nice tea! The manager Millie was fantastic dealing with the issues and we are already planning to return later in the year when we can sit out on the garden terrace to enjoy the views!"

"On traditionally bleak winters day in south west Dorset this hotel was warm and welcoming, spacious and well presented rooms. Breakfast was well cooked and served promptly. A strong 9/10 because although you should never judge a book by the cover, this hotel lets it self down with it's exterior presentation"

"Amazing place, temperature was minus and freezing so couldn’t get the heating high enough, but to be fair the bed was extremely comfy and had a really good sleep before going onto my next location, would definitely stay again and give time to use the facilities better! The Nog inn was a great local pub for food and drink 5 mins in a taxi "

"The room, large and clean with comfortable bed, nice clean bathroom. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Food was good, breakfast cooked to order and lots of choice. The location of the Hotel is great for Shaftesbury town, a 12 minute walk takes you to the centre. We really liked it. We didn’t use the pool but it looks nice, although it seemed to be constantly used by locals mainly. Overall very happy "
