We had a lovely stay. The host was very helpful with a check-in hiccup and the property was clean and cozy. Located just around the corner from Avondale and a quick trip to all the places we wanted to visit, we had a great time!

Better than most hotels for a better price the area isn’t really sketchy at all as other reviews have said there’s just industrial businesses nearby that are old buildings and make it look more sketchy but otherwise normal people walking there dogs jogging and enjoying the day as most places would definitely use again next time I’m In area

Stallions football
Some friends and I went down to watch the football game. Our stay was incredible not far from the stadium and there's plenty of other activities close by. I did understand the sketchy part of the neighborhood but everything was great. The neighborhood may have a run down feel to it but with all the renovations going on around the area it was all good. However it is good to know that everything shuts down around 10 pm.
It was nice enough for our needs, but the neighborhood was not super great. The entry process with the keypad was also difficult until we figured it out... more complicated than the directions we were given. When it was difficult to enter at night in the sketchy neighborhood, it felt a bit disconcerting. But, it was close to town, and we did enjoy our time in Birmingham.

Nice but a little deceiving
The pictures are not of this unit. The bathroom and kitchen are not the same and from what I assume are the other unit. The bathroom in this unit had the washer and dryer next to an exposed hot water heater that was a bit untidy and just ugly. The kitchen was much smaller than pictured. It’s advertised as a two bedroom but I read reviews that accurately stated this is a one bedroom with another bed in the living room. I knew this going in and worked well for my needs but if you have a family or want to house six to 12 people as the listing states that would probably be an issue. For the price it was nice but I wish they had just posted proper pictures and update the listing to let people know exactly what they’re getting. I never leave reviews but I’m this case thought it was necessary.

Facade
I use the word facade because that is the best way to summarize this listing. The house had most of what it said it would, but the bare minimum of that. It wasn’t clarified that “AC” means window units. It stayed pretty cool, thanks to the time of year, but the front room we stayed in looked like it had the oldest window unit and it got stuffy in there, even with the ceiling fan on. You can just tell the place hadn’t received much clean or care lately. It was tidy, but the floor was not clean .. it turned our socks black. When we turned the lights on in the kitchen/bathroom at night, cockroaches came out of the woodworks. That was with our trash already being taken out. The oven did not work. The wifi name and password were incorrect. The washer and dryer worked but I would bring detergent if you plan on using them. I’d also bring your own toilet paper because they only had literally 1/2 ply.. it was awful. Only had one travel size shampoo as far as shower amenities. The bed we slept on (in the front room) was very creaky and we didn’t enjoy either mattress (they are memory foam but you roll into a bowl in the middle if it’s more than one person). There is a fire pit but no wood and no adirondack chairs. There were metal seats. The area was a little sketchy but the locks on the doors made me feel safer.Lastly, the remote in the second bedroom would not pair to the tv, which is why we chose to sleep in the other. Basically just don’t plan on spending much time at the house!
My first issue is when you click on get directions, It gives you an entirely different address than the property. When contacting the host about the address, I was only sent a screenshot and not really explained the issue. Upon arriving to the property, it was in kind of a sketchy area. Walking into the property, there was no living area just two bedrooms, which I do not believe was described properly in the description of the property. As we turned on lights in the property, bugs were running to get out of the light. The drawers in the kitchen had bugs, dead bugs, the refrigerator had dead bugs and spilt food. The bathroom floor mat was absolutely disgusting, saturated with filth. also, there was barely any toilet paper.Fingerprints and smudges on the wall along with lines of dead roaches along the baseboards of the entire property. This property was so dirty that it forced me and my aunt to spend money we hadn’t planned on spending at a very expensive hotel down the street because we were from out of town and didn’t know where else to go. I would like to have a full refund because I didn’t even stay one night in this property because of the filth.

It was okay
We needed a place to sleep at night and this place provided it. We were a little skeptical pulling up to the building but it was okay. I will say, the beds were super comfortable so that was really nice.
Things that need some updating:
- the front door/lock. It is super frustrating to have to pull the door up and out to lock and unlock it. It took us several times each time to get it to work correctly.
- The internet was not great - couldn't even find it most of the time. Had to use our hot spots.
- The bedroom by the kitchen did not have a blanket/comforter and neither did the pull out in the front room. We bought blankets from the dollar general down the road.
- The toilet paper holder is broken and there wasn't a good place to put the toilet paper because the towels were on the back of the toilet.
- The shower knobs are confusing and finicky. You never knew which way to turn in order to turn the shower or water on/off. It was a guessing game but we always figured it out.
- The freezer was sticky when we tried to open it with a few ants. I think it just needs a good clean.
The pictures aren't of Bungalow A but it is similar. The layout is a little odd if you are coming with a group of people - no main living space to hangout together.
Honestly, if you aren't super particular about things, this place would probably be fine. It provided us a place to sleep. It was also driving distance to Cahaba Brewing Company which was good.
House was great! Clean and very "homey". Didn't really like entering one "bedroom" straight from the front door, but it was ok because there was a deadbolt on the door. Bathroom was tiny, but I kinda expected that. Overall, I would stay here again if the price was right...the location is a little sketchy though.
The price was right & the place was clean, but if you want to sleep this is not the place for you. The train runs day & night. When crossing the intersection (where property is located) train is required to sound horn & it’s LOUD. Also, both beds are very cheap & uncomfortable. They rattle everytime you move & u sink into the bed. The lock pad on the front door worked some of the time. We had to exit through the back door to secure the place when leaving. Sorry but I wish someone had warned us... renters beware!

Overall pleasurable experience
I really appreciated the rapid communication with Kelly. Especially regarding the misunderstanding with the cleaning situation. We loved the extra amenities (Wi-Fi, fire pit, automated string lights in the patio and Netflix). The only downfall was the bed not being very comfortable. I felt sunk in every time I woke during the night. Lastly, we did not actually have a fenced yard. Our pups left the yard a couple times (we enjoy keeping them loose). Otherwise, the place was nicely decorated and felt like a perfect location to get to where we needed. We were close to our gym, had a nice park nearby and food! I would definitely stay here again as it is very convenient and friendly environment overall!

Good location and excellent communication with owner.
The concept of the property was really cool. We loved the backyard area with the fire pit and string lights. It’s also in a good location (felt closer to east Avondale than Forest Park). We were able to get a hold of the property manager very easily and she responded promptly with each inquiry. The only down side was the cleanliness of the property. There was a dirty wash cloth left on the shower rod and long hairs in the bath tub. Many of the dishes had a greasy yellow film on them and needed to be hand washed before use. Lastly, there was food and trash in the bottom of the kitchen trash can where the extra bags were being kept. Overall the property was a great concept in a decent location but the cleanliness was an issue.
Myself and my family enjoyed the stay there in Unit A because everyplace we needed to go to was in a short distance drive. I didn't get to accomplish what the trip was intended for so I will need to book again after get confirmation from my Doctor on when I can get my appointment for my operation.
We were there for the 2021 Alabama Comic Con, the stay was absolutely amazing. It was really clean, the host was really nice and easy to talk to if I had any questions, it was an easy check in and check out. Overall I would definitely stay there again 😁😁😁
