Please do NOT stay here!
Please note that we visit Birmingham a great deal and know the area. While the area is a fine place to stay, this particular apartment complex is not. For your safety, DO NOT STAY HERE! First, the owner wanted to leave the apartment UNLOCKED for us. I said that was unacceptable. He said he would put a key under the mat. Still not ideal...but I said okay.
There were NO LIGHT FIXTURES OR SWITCHES in the living room or either of the two bedrooms. There were NO LAMPS in the living room or either of the two bedrooms. So, you are expected to sit in the DARK for your stay. This appears to be a "model" apartment set up for people who would like to rent from this complex. The kitchen had a sign that read, "Kitchen is for display only." Which led us to believe that we should not use it. While check in was at four, we did not arrive until seven that night. The dishwasher was still running, and there were dishes all over the counter. There was no remote for the television set either, and no way to turn on the tv without a remote. We contacted the manager about these issues, and he told us that he was on the property and would be over "in a moment." We waited for 30 minutes for him to arrive or call us back informing us he would be coming. We received nothing. After sitting 30 minutes in the dark in this shady apartment complex, we decided that it was too unsafe to stay any more. The manager did not attempt to make contact with us until two hours later. UNACCEPTABLE!
