This building, popularly known as Etxetxu, was built in 1612 and is the oldest in the Old Port, even before the port itself, which was raised in 1629, seventeen years later. This singular house that presides over the entrance to the upper part of the neighborhood, was also Getxo Town Hall for 22 years (from 1838 to 1860), headquarters of the Fishermen's Guild and Pilotage School for the Lemanes sailors. It has even been the scene of several films, the most notorious "Un poco de Chocolate".
As a more recent event, on Saturday August 12, 1972, in the middle of the Puerto Viejo de Algorta festivities, it is on the ground floor of this historic building, where the popular drink Kalimotxo was baptized".
