This place was in the perfect location and had the perfect amount of space for a big group of friends. The pictures online don’t do this place justice. The space is perfect, the kitchen is fully stocked, the views are breathtaking. The owners were also amazing and very easy to contact and help us with anything we need.
The location of the cabin is phenomenal!!! The pictures does not do it justice. The cabin has everything you would need and more. Ernie and Mary Lou were great host, and we feel grateful that they share their lovely cabin with us lucky few. If you are lucky enough to stay at this cabin please look at the pictures and decor, there is a surprise at every corner.
This is a beautiful property with stunning views of the mountains in the background. We had deer coming into the backyard morning and evening, and the constant sound of the river was mesmerizing.. The owners of the property are very hospitable and kind and easy to communicate with.
The setting of this property is superb; Swan River at cabin footsteps, great views of it and Mission Mountain Wilderness, lots of open territory for hiking and much privacy. Terrific "gteat room" open yet intimate, lots of lush couches with warming fireplace. More than you need in kitchen, everything well stocked and accessible. Interesting art/objects all over the cabin creates very home like feeling. Absolute recommend
We were met by the owners and given a tour. The pictures aren't enough to experience the amazing qualities of this property. We were met with more linens and supplies than we could ever need, and were even loaned a closet full of warm clothing (for layers, although we didn't need them.) Our stay was relaxing and wonderful. If you're thinking about staying at this property, stop thinking about it and do it. You'll be glad you did.
The best hidden gem so far!!! We were so shocked to see such a beautiful spot at the end of the dirt road! It is everything as described and more. Fishing, floating, relaxing, yard games and wonderful access to local lakes for paddleboarding and swimming. House was so well stocked-almost like you were family coming in and had access to everything you might want. Wonderful guest cottage and bunkhouse to spread out into! It may become our family tradition if available! I would think it would be hard for hosts and family not to be there all the time! Thank you so much for sharing!
We had an unbelievable time at the cabin on the Swan River. After hiking most days, all of us were always excited all to getting back to the house with the awesome sights and sounds of the river and mountain backdrop. It’s just an awesome, scenic property that, in my opinion, is minimized by the VRBO pics.
The accommodations were just second to none. This was a boys trip with five adults age ranging from 25 to 58, and we thoroughly enjoyed being at the cabin. Plenty of room in the house, great card playing table, outdoor feel, terrific yard, and clean. It’s been a week and we can’t stop talking about the fun we had hanging at our mountain retreat…. It’ll be a while until we stop missing the sights, sounds, and big country air.
This family compound is beautifully situated down a steep mountain upon the Swan River, filled with nature and rushing water as soon as you drop your bags! Incredible views of the rushing river's bend which filled the Montana-themed home from nearly every room. Only 1+ away from Whitefish town and Glacier Airport, and wasn't too far for a day's hike in GNP, yet secluded enough to escape the busy towns for a few days. We do recommend buying or renting Fly-Fishing poles/gear as the property does not provide any recreational equipment for the enjoyment of River, as well as bear-spray for long hikes in BigFork. TV had plenty of cable channels, Netflix/HULU, etc., Wi-Fi was great - even down by the River - however no Cell Service (we just made calls through wifi/wireless). Great BBQ/Smoker/Pit onsite and incredible host - Ernest was always available and quick to help in any way. Highly recommend!
The hosts met us at the property the day we arrived. Graciously showed us around. Answered any questions we had but we didn’t have many. If we had brought family there was plenty of room. Hoping the next time we come up here this place will be available and we will bring some friends or family.
You can fish the Swan River just out the back door. Wonderful to watch it roll by, while listenIng to it and the birds each morning w a cup of coffee. The kitchen has all the needed cooking items. Grilled outside each night for dinner.
We rode horses w an outfitter just 15 minutes down the road. Met our fishing guide for the Blackfoot River less than an hour away. The owner’s know a guide that will come to the cabin. We had already paid for the one we used. We went to Glacier Park another day, just over an hour’s drive north.
The quiet, the location, and the amenities were exactly what we were looking for.
Ernie and MaryLou were awesome hosts! They answered all of our questions in person and over the phone. They responded quickly and were easy to get a hold of. Their property has views that you only see in movies. We could have never imagined the view of the river flowing with the mountains in the background. We assumed it would be a small creek but it is an actual knee/thigh deep river flowing fairly quickly, which was amazing. Cooking breakfast outside on the flat top grill, enjoying a cup of coffee was a perfect way to start the day. The cabin is very close to beautiful hikes but also far enough off of the highway that you can’t hear the traffic. The evening view was even better than the morning view as we would be outside barbecuing, having a campfire and watching the sun go down. The main cabin was very nice and updated as well. Plenty of room for the 8 of us to stay. This is truly an amazing place to stay and I would recommend it to anyone! Ernie and MaryLou have a one of a kind cabin and we were so appreciative that they allowed us to stay there!!
Nice, clean, spacious, beautifully decorated cabin set along a swiftly moving river. Plenty of things to do right at the cabin or just relax in a hammock and listen to the stream. Owners were extremely friendly and helpful.
This is a great place to get away from it all. Our group of six friends found plenty to do at the house from fishing to sunning on the deck and star-gazing at night. We found local hikes and drove to Glacier National Park for the day. The house is equipped with everything you would need. We were aware cell phone service was not available. Bring a phone card if you need to make a call. We had Internet but it was a bit flaky.
A great spot and friendly hosts. We will be back!
This was hands down the best vacation rental we have ever stayed in. The location was perfect right on the river and the cabin was so clean and well appointed. The owners were wonderful to communicate and have thought of everything. We will be back at some point to this piece of paradise!
