Family Vacation on Bras d'Or
Amazing getaway for a large family or group. Each of the cottages are clean and roomy with a great atmosphere and plenty of space. Katie is a friendly and communicative host - even though we didn't need any help, I have no doubt she would have helped us resolve any issue quickly. Looking forward to booking again next time we're in Cape Breton!

Beautiful Property
This property is amazing. From the stunning water views framed by a spacious lawn to the three separate cottages, to the close proximity to the Cabot Trail as well as downtown Baddeck…it was perfect for our family retreat of 3 couples. The owner/manager Katie Fagan was very helpful during the booking process as well as during our stay. We will remember this trip for years to come and would highly recommend this experience to others!

Peaceful cottages in a great location!
We were thrilled to find this serene property in a perfect location that made exploring Cape Breton easily accessible. The cottages are just as described - well-equipped with incredible views and with the opportunity to spend time with family and also retreat for some quiet time alone as well. The view from all sides, including the lazy, sweeping driveway, rolling grassy landscape, and of course the sparkling water of Big Harbour never failed to fill us with wonder. From watching the stars on a clear night, to day trips along the Cabot Trail or to Louisbourg Fortress, there was always something to explore and fill our time with joy and adventure. We hope we will be able to return one day and would most definitely recommend this location and property to anyone looking to explore Cape Breton. The owners were wonderful and responded quickly to messages. We are so thankful that they choose to share this very special place - such a perfect location to make beautiful memories.

Wonderful cottges
The three cottages are perfect for a group of adults. Everyone had their own space as well as plenty of room to congregate. Each cottage is charmingly decorated and each has a spectacular view of the lake. The thrid cottage now has a full bathroom. There were fans in each room which were great on the 3-4 warm days that we had. The location is perfect- close enough to Baddeck for dinner but far enough away to be completely peaceful. The owner was very responsive for the few small issues that arose. I would return without hesistation.

Family cottage holiday at its best!
Thoroughly enjoyed our family holiday at the farm! Daytrips around Cape Breton Island were memorable and quiet days/evenings at the beautiful cottages equally enjoyed. We holidayed with 3 married children and a 1 yr old grandson. All the baby items were onsite. Lots of room for everyone to play games/eat together. The kitchen fully equipped. The three cottages allowed everyone to spread out and have some quiet times. The deck views were beautiful! We holidayed late August so bugs were few, the tempertures very comfortable and the wild blueberries plentiful! The only disappointment was we had to leave.

Great Family Vacation
The house was great for our family of 8 and having the 2 separate cottages was nice giving some their own space. The view was beautiful and relaxing. Location is in a private area and a short 20 minute drive from Baddeck center. Everything is in the house that you need. Great windows open at night for a breeze. We enjoyed the Cabot Trail and did the Skyline walk, Amoeba Sail boat from Baddeck, Glenora Destillery, Red Shoe Pub, drinks and lunch at Cabot Links, golf at Bell Bay in Baddeck, Tubing down the Margaree River (highlight) and Spruce Hill Brewery (great for an afternoon of music and beer) and visits to a few beaches in Inverness and Sydney. Only recommendation is to have a portable fan for every room in the summer as it was hot during the week we were there in July. Also bring bug spray for mosquitos and black flies as they were everywhere in Cape Breton but the spray helps a bit. Great week, we loved Cape Breton. Thank you for lettings us rent your property.

Peaceful retreat in convenient 3-house setup
We were looking for a vacation rental to accomodate a group of 5 adults and 4 children and the 3-house property proved ideal: clean, peaceful, functional. Baddeck is 15 minutes away and has everything you need. The patio is great and there is lots of playing space for kids , but the abundance of black flies limited our ability to enjoy it fully -- apparently this year is exceptional in this regard. The owners were quick to respond to our inquiries and made great recommendations (Red Shoe Pub in Mabou among them). Overall a great stay in Cape Breton.

Home away from home
The three buildings on this property are located right on Bras d’Or Lake. Stunning views of the sunrise. They are centrally located between Baddeck and the Gaelic College and so excellent for the Celtic Colours Festival. The main house kitchen was well equipped. The living area was comfortable and the large deck had very relaxing views. The main house and studio with the bathroom did need moderate attention for cleaning when we arrived which the owners attended to the next day. Given the cost, we would have expected everything to be checked before our arrival. On site laundry and clothesline were very useful. The owners were very helpful when it came to sorting out the dates we wanted to stay as it was their end of season. The owners were also available by phone and email and were very quick to respond which we appreciated. So, overall, it was a wonderful setting at the end of a quiet road. A great get-away.

Bras d'Ors Bliss!
The farm was a wonderful place to stay for our entire family. We had 3 couples, one with baby, and three teenagers. The view was beautiful and the location convenient. The owner was responsive to every inquiry and question. The only down side was the internet is anemic which was only important for work that couldn't wait.

Gorgeous Property with Spectacular Views and Ideal Location
What a week in Baddeck! We drove up to Cape Breton from Boston to spend quality time with our three children and family friends-and that we did! We chose this property because of the pictures on VRBO, and they don't lie! Because we arrived after dark, we couldn't appreciate the view until the morning. And boy oh boy-what a way to wake up. We took our cups of coffee, and sat outside on the expansive deck. What a wonderful place to take it all in! The cottages were the perfect place to share with another family. They were clean and comfortable, and had everything we needed (and the lack of television was much needed for our children!) Most days we ventured out to explore Cape Breton, and Baddeck was the ideal location...right in the middle of everything. We went up to the Highlands and visited Ingonish Beach which our kids loved! And we all loved the views as we drove there-the Cabot Trail is a must if you're coming to stay. Another day we traveled on the other side of Cape Breton, to Mabou, to show our children where their Great Grandmother grew up. But Baddeck itself has a quaint downtown to explore-artsy shops, coffee/tea store, ice cream, and a few restaurants to dine at. But going on the Amoeba sailboat was a definite highlight. The crew gave a detailed history of Baddeck, and sailed us by a pair of Bald Eagles who were awaiting the fish the Captain threw out to them. We've taken our family to Disney World, to resorts, a cruise, but this vacation "was our favorite"-out of the mouths of babes. Our 13 year old loved riding his mountain bike around the area, and waking up early to fish. The kind-hearted and generous landscaper, Tony, shared his favorite fishing spot with our son, and he was eager to go there! While there, he bumped into Tony who not only shared the fishing spot, but also, several filets of mackerel from his "catch of the day"! We found this generosity and kindness typical with all of the Canadians we met and chatted with during our stay. It's another reason why we will definitely return. And when we do, we hope we can stay at the Fagan's beautiful homestead again.

Perfect spot!
It was our first time traveling to Nova Scotia and we had an amazing time. The cottages were perfect for our group. We had two adults and a baby in the main cottage, and one adult in another. We enjoyed cooking many meals together, and loved sitting on the deck reading and taking in the view. It was nice to have Baddeck just a 10 min or so drive away. It was a great central location for exploring spots on the Cabot trail. We also loved taking the ferry in Baddeck over to the island and walking, hanging out by the lighthouse, and enjoying the beach.

Great Vacation Spot
I have been meaning to write this review for some time to let others know about this wonderful vacation spot. My husband and I spent a week here in August, 2016 with two other couples and we found it the perfect base for exploring Cape Breton Island. The setting is very private and peaceful, with spectacular views of the lake. The cottages are beautiful and really comfortable; everything you need and more. The main cottage was a terrific gathering space with a well stocked kitchen and comfortable living room and dining room. It was also ideal for us to be able to spread out among the three cottages for a little privacy at nighttime or whenever. The deck is another great space to enjoy meals and relaxation, although we did have some problems with biting insects. The owners, Katie and Jamie, were great to work with, both during the booking process and while we were on Cape Breton. They were there the same week we were, in a separate cottage down the hill. They were friendly and had helpful suggestions on restaurants, puffin tours, etc., but were never intrusive. The town of Baddeck is a great base for exploring Cape Breton Island, with nice restaurants and shops and easy access to the rest of Cape Breton Island. We can recommend this property without hesitation!

Beautiful peaceful welcoming location!
I was travelling with 7 other adults and this property couldn't have suited us better. All three cottages were clean and we felt right at home. Having the three separate living places everyone had their personal space. The view was breath taking. Katie and Jamie were wonderful to communicate with, response time was very quick. I would definitely rent their vacation rental again. 10 out of 10. Thanks for the memories Lisa

Stress just melts away!
We spent a week at this wonderful property in Big Harbour NS just outside of Baddeck. The views were magnificent and the cottages wonderful. Easy access to the town for supplies and within short driving distances of everything on the island you could want. Swam and fished each day. Weather was perfect for late summer. Owners were very helpful in providing all information needed and more. Highly recommend!

Perfect Place in Cape Breton
This property turned out to be a perfect location for touring Cape Breton, very central and convenient with beautiful views of the lakes and just minutes to Baddeck when we needed a little "civilization." The four of us had way more than enough room, with two staying in the main house and two in the adjacent cottage, we didn't need the lower cottage but it too was very nice. The house is well-stocked with everything you need for cooking, trips to the beach and cleaning plus fun amenities like games and lots of books to fill the down times. The hammock on the deck got a lot of use too! The owners are very friendly and responsive and in fact were staying next door at their boat cottage while we were there. They really know the area and gave us plenty of tips for dining and things to do. The little town of Baddeck was great with several good restaurants, shopping, the excellent Alexander Graham Bell museum and several places to catch a performance of local, traditional music. Cape Breton is big and there are a ton of things to see and do, we hardly scratched the surface in our one week there, I guess we'll have to come back and stay in this amazing house again sometime soon!

A stylish & spacious house in beautiful setting
The houses and location suited our extended family group, although an additional bathroom in the main house would have made it perfect! The setting is beautiful (but the flying insects sadly prevented us making full use of the great deck areas) and there is lots to see and do on CBI. Car essential! We recommend you visit Louisbourg (make sure you take a sweater as it will be foggy, then stop for dinner at the Black Spoon Bistro in North Sydney on the way back), the artists' studios around St Ann's bay, Acadian Cheticamp and its lovely beach Plage St Pierre (buy a lobster roll at the seafood stop on the way), the Highland Village Museum at Iona and of course Baddeck.
