Bear's Lair is your LAKEFRONT home away from home located on Metcalf Bay only a short drive to Snow Summit and Bear Mountain. Our home has stunning lake, marina, and Mountain View’s Our newly remodeled exterior log home is located next door to Holloway's Marina and a very short drive to the village, Snow Summit, and Bear Mountain. Bear's Lair is pet friendly with no extra charge for your well behaved 4 legged family members.

The home has a reverse floor plan with 3 bedrooms and a full bath on the first floor. The first floor bedrooms include a king size bed, queen size bed, and 4 twin beds. All beds are made with fresh linens prior to your arrival. Also on the first floor is the washer and dryer.

The second floor includes a living area with high vaulted ceilings and large windows with dramatic views overlooking Big Bear Lake, Holloway's Marina, and the San Bernardino National Forest. The living area is perfect for your whole group to enjoy with a large flat screen TV, large wood-burning fireplace, pool table, dining area, and open kitchen. The kitchen includes all of your cooking essentials such as pots and pans, silverware, cooking utensils, dishware, glassware, coffee maker and more. The kitchen also offers all major appliances such as a dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator and gas stove. We even get you started with paper towels, dish soap, dishwasher soap, and garbage bags. Also on the second floor is a brand new bathroom with double sinks and gorgeous shower.

The third floor loft, with a queen size bed, overlooks the second floor living area and also has spectacular views thru the large windows.

To maximize this gorgeous location there are wrap around decks on the first and second floors. Enjoy the spa on the first floor deck and the charcoal BBQ and outdoor seating on the first floor deck as well while watching the sunset over Big Bear Lake and viewing the snow capped mountains in the winter. If you don't have your own boat, a very short walk away is Holloway's Marina where you can rent all types of watercraft.

Extremely disappointing for the price paid… as soon as you walk in it REEKS OF Cigarette SMOKE. No hot water you will stand there for minutes freezing wondering if this will ever warm up.. it doesn’t … you get spider webs around every turn, not joking from ceiling to walls to in between bedframes… cabin is falling apart … there have been some renovations but over all this place is a liability for injury… thankful we were ok.. It was COLD ! , you can literally see through the cabin walls due to deteriorating wood smh … Lost power for a couple mins on day 2 ..heater is extremely loud good luck sleeping.. checked the closets and found dirty sheets from previous stays.. that room smelled nice! The best part about the cabin was that we did not get bitten by a brown recluse or freeze to death.. location was extremely convenient but that’s about the only thing this place had going for it.. not worth the money find a another property …

The property is as pictured. That check-in process was easy and communication with the host was excellent. The property is right on the lake with beautiful views and balconies off each room. We had a wonderful stay. Highly recommend.

Amazing cabin and fun stay!
We booked this for our early Thanksgiving celebration with our family and we all loved our stay here! There is a pool table and we had fun playing all day! Our family enjoyed our time here and they wanna come back again next year! The owner was very responsive when I asked questions. Overall, we had fun in this beautiful cabin!

Great property, plenty of space, and things to entertain your group! Very close to a marina as well as the village, and you do have a nice little view of the lake! Easy communication with the owner, overall a great house for a trip to Big Bear!

Great location! Our group really enjoyed our stay. The views from the decks were awesome. Grilling and hot tubing while looking at the lake were great. When we had an issue with the hot water, host was quick to respond. Great location near shuttle stop to Oktoberfest!

We loved the house and it fit our needs perfectly!! We would definitely go back. the convenience to the rentals of pontoon was amazing. Walking distance. Even though we weathered a hurricane we made the best of it and brought games to play!

Beautiful house but has a very very bad urine smell
My family and I had a good time. The house was nice close to the lake, but had a very bad urine smell that blew you away as soon as you open the door.

Amazing location, Amazing property, and overall a wonderfully rental property. The only issues were that the rental did not come with toiletries, cleaning supplies, many spiderwebs and lastly the roof sprung leak on us early morning. None of the negative point would keep me from renting this property again not major issues for us.

Outdated property description
The communication with the property manager was spot on. The property itself is outdated, the roof was leaking in various locations. The preset heater temperature did not extend to the 2nd level. Sliders do not lock on the 1st and 2nd level. Could not use the washer or dryer without the breaker tripping. Overall stay was not worth what was paid.

Winter escape
Our stay was fantastic. We arrived during the storm of the century in Big Bear, but the house and location made it worth while. It was a winter wonderland up in Big Bear. I was concerned about the heating working properly and internet, but both worked great our entire stay. The owner of the house was a text message away and answered any of our questions. She was wonderful to work with and was willing to accommodate an extra day at the house if we could not get down due to road closures. Fortunately, one Hwy opened so we were able to leave, but we would have loved to stay longer. We would definitely stay here again.

This camp home has potential. It's a beautiful home but it needs an upgrade (the stove, beds, and windows). It's dirty since there were mouse droppings and no hand soap. The pictures online are not close to what this house looks like. I'll rather pay a little more and stay somewhere more upgraded.

A great location. A nice cabin
This cabin has a great location, is close to the marina, and is not too far from town. It looks like the carpet is relatively new and the layout is nice. It has a decent-sized kitchen and the open floor plan is inviting. There were some cobwebs in the upper corners and the chandelier, but everything else was nice and clean. The 2nd level tub jets don't work but it is a nice big tub. Make sure you bring extra toilet paper and paper towels and beach towels for summer. The host was very prompt in responding to questions. The upstairs bedroom is an open loft, but a nice big bed. Overall the stay was nice, I just wish it had a few more amenities for the price.

The management of this cabin was the most unhelpful management I have ever experienced. We showed up at the cabin and were welcomed by some trash and dirty dishes. When we tried to find the wifi and were unsuccessful we texted management and they never responded. Then the next morning when we were using the middle floor shower, we realized that the ceiling in the downstairs bedroom was leaking all over our beds and belongings. We had people that had to sleep on the ground that night and weren't provided help. Overall, it was super disappointing and even though we did get partially refunded, it was definitely not worth it. Never staying here again.

Not Happy..!
Arrived with my family Friday, cabin not what we expected for what I paid. Back living room door was broken. Called the owner - she sent someone to look at it. There were spider webs all over the cabin (killed several spiders) - worst was on the lamp over the dinning room table. Saturday night had to call the police because of loud music by next door neighbors - we got no sleep. Needless to say - I will not be staying in this cabin again.

The property was very unclean. The jacuzzi tub was partially filled with water and had mold. There were broken boards by the tv with mold on them. The dryer lint filter was completely filled and didn’t fully fit the screen due to the lint build up. There were ants in the kitchen along with mouse droppings behind the fridge. Also found a dead mouse in a trap next to the dryer! Looked like it had been there a little while. There were cookies and new years’ Eve hats on top of the refrigerator. My family and I checked in on the 19th, 18 days past New Year’s Day. My son has asthma and he couldn’t stop coughing and sneezing. We could only stay there 1-night and that only happened because my children were exhausted.

Mold everywhere
My daughter arrived at 3pm which is check in time and the cleaning lady was there. She had to wait another 45 minutes for her to finish. Mold and mildew in both bathrooms - shower walls, outside the shower doors and all around the seal of the tub. Mold growing in corners of the bedrooms downstairs (in the wood). You can tell where someone tried to patch some areas that have leaked but didnt do it very well. The iciing on the cake was when my son in law took a shower in the upstairs bathroom and water started pouring from the light fixture in the bedroom beneath it. As well as the wall on the far side of the same bedroom. I contacted Stacie and I did get an immediate response. Her solution was to send someone to the house to change the bedding on the beds that got wet. No apology or anything. So 8 people had to share 1 shower for 3 days. Now onto the dust layer. So thick on the railing of the loft you couldn't even blow it off. The toilet paper holder fell off the wall as soon as it was touched. The reviews I read said that it was a very clean place. And that is not what we experienced. Extremely disappointed

Very old, needs major updates, leaks in. Unrolled rooms!, and smelled horrible
Really wanted to like this place but it wasn’t accuaratly described. First night it rained and master bedroom and second room flooded by slider. Judging by the stains and now seeing others complained of this before it’s Sedona take not the first time. It reeked like cat urine. And was horrible to sleep in. It never dried and smelled the whole stay. . I text the owner on VRBO and text message and they replied i“ thanks for letting me know.” The kids bedroom was leaking on far side walls and dripping down. Very old inside. Cobwebs throughout house. Couldn’t clean the fireplace because the tools were all broken just metal sticks. Shovel was broke off. One reason we booked was for jacuzzi and “jetted tub” well the jets didn’t work at all. The jacuzzi lid was so old and coming apart we could barely get it off. Due to being old and snow the whole middle is concaving in. We were super disappointed and felt mislead. The kitchen appliances were old and many of the pots we couldn’t use because the stuff was coming off the bottoms of them. Even the oven pan does not fit in the oven so we had to improvise even cooking. The couch in the living room is so old that if you try to sit in the middle, you almost fell through. We took off the cushions to discover a big hole in the middle of the couch so sitting in the living room was not very comfortable. .Not that it’s a big deal, but the smaller bedroom does not have bunkbeds it’s for single beds just something else that was incorrectly described. There was bags of trash, outback, and beer bottles looks like thrown off the balcony and never picked up. Way too much money for the price has stayed in a much nicer cleaner cabins for less. Feel like we should’ve been compensated some thing, at least for the leaking that they knew about as you can see in other guests writing. smells like mildew inside. Not sure if it’s due to all of the leaking..
