Just over two hours from Boston, this cozy, yet spacious home is the perfect spot to slow down + unplug. After skiing Cannon Mountain or hiking the many nearby peaks, watch the sunset turn to starry skies from the porch with mountain views for miles. Plenty of nearby restaurants and breweries, we're 5 minutes to downtown Bethlehem and 10 from Littleton. Have coffee in the mornings on the wraparound porch, or curl up inside by the wood burning stove. Come relax and breathe deep! *New: EVs welcome
The farmhouse is a short drive to Cannon Mountain, Bretton Woods, Loon Mountain, Moore Reservoir, Franconia Notch State Park, Mt. Washington hotel, bike trails, several golf courses, not to mention all the shops, restaurants, and breweries in Bethlehem and Littleton. We share some of our own favorites on IG--follow along: @thenorthcountryfarmhouse.
Our inviting, light-filled farmhouse is the perfect setting for friends and families to gather for a White Mountains getaway in all seasons. Three separate sitting areas, a large dining room, hot tub, a rocking chair-lined 3-sided porch, and fire-pit make for a perfect rural retreat. Once known as “Grand View Cottage,” the house has a long history and quirky charm. Previous owners installed moldings, doors, and cornices salvaged from the by-gone era of Bethlehem's great hotels; and the antiques and artwork adorning every wall, nook, and cranny make the space truly one-of-a-kind.
With 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, this house is excellent for large groups and families, and it’s a space you can truly live in during your stay. The kitchen is fully equipped with updated appliances, utensils, spices, and servingware. The house is also stocked with puzzles, board games, art supplies for kids, 2 TV's, and books of all genres, including a dedicated children's library. A bit of seasoned firewood for the wood stove and/or fire-pit is provided for guests, along with cozy bedding (including down comforters and extra wool blankets for colder nights), plush towels, shampoo/conditioner/body wash, and Crocs for walking to and from the hot tub.
The house sleeps 9 adults comfortably. With the twin bed located in the small reading nook adjoining the master bedroom (#5), a maximum of 10 can be accommodated.
A couple quirks to note about the layout:
- Bedroom 4 (1 full bed) is a private room but is accessed by walking through Bedroom 3 (2 twin beds).
- Two of the three bathrooms have a bathtub; only one has a shower. However, we have found that this has not been an issue even for large groups.
- "Mind your step" when walking from the dining room to the living room; and be sure to watch little children around the wood burning stove (which gets very hot) and by the "trap door" stairs in the reading nook near the master bedroom. (Please keep that trap door open to help circulate heat upstairs. And DO NOT walk on it if closed!)
We strive to keep our house as eco-friendly and low-impact as possible with:
- As of October 2021, a brand new roof
- As of November 2021, a completely new multi-zone high efficiency furnace system in both sections of the home
- Energy-efficient appliances and insulation
- Single-stream recycling
- Plant-based cleaning and laundry products, soaps, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash
- Reusable food storage containers and refilled hand and dish soaps to reduce plastic waste
- EV charging!
Full access to entire house, including washer & dryer, and outdoor hot tub.
